Yes, playing one round of Sharqi for an hour starts to grate eventually, but I was doing well and picked up my Armoured Service Ribbon towards the end (without even trying to, so it was a nice surprise).
The thing about a really long round is that it better shows who's playing better. The scores are less affected by random things like someone who gets lucky and manages to SRAW a full vodnik or something. I was well pleased to come out of that round with a Silver medal and about 195 points, but was dead impressed by some guy called Shot7 who basically schooled us in how to slaughter people wholesale as an M16-wielding medic, and finished up with nearly 300 points.
So yeah, they're fun because they're different. It's a break from the quick battles where one side collapses in a couple of minutes, because it tends to be more or less impossible for a small team to take ALL the flags off the enemy. Because of how long the round goes on, you can learn patterns and tactics that the enemy are using (if you're paying attention). For example, I learned that if I come around the corner and that Shot7 dude is waiting for me, my MP7 isn't going to cut it. It's much better to have a T-90...
