Hi guys, i'm experiencing a very odd problem with bf2 and i'm hoping yall can help me out.

first of all: i have a dell e1705 laptop running T2600 2.16ghz duo core processor w/ 1 gig ram
my graphics card is the Geforce GO 7900 GS, running the latest drivers provided by dell [i couldnt even load bf2  before i got those drivers]

anyway, my problem is this: i have all my graphics set to the lowest of low, running in 800x600 resolution.  the game runs beautiful single player.  my problem occurs whenever i connect to an online server.

My problem goes something like this: 1, the game runs extremely choppy.  if im moving my mouse its liable to make my screen vision jump everywhere, people jump out from corners, etc. this makes it pretty hard to aim, much less walk around and contribute.
2: many  of my keys are registering "twice" about 90% of the time i push them.  what i mean by this is that when i hit "f" to switch to next weapon [i.e. rifle ---> medpack] most of the time it jumps straight to the shock paddles.  if i hit f while on my knife it usually jumps to my rifle.
when i hit w, s, a, or d, it constantly begins to enter sprint mode [the gun gets lowered] but then comes out of it, so i dont actually sprint but it constantly does this making my running very very choppy.  when i hit "3" to change firing modes it goes to single shot then back to full auto, as if i pressed the button twice.

as you can imagine this is really annoying.  i should note it does this about 90% of the time. sometimes i can change firing modes without it going back and sometimes i can hit f and it only jumps to the next weapon.

point #2: if i join a server that is EMPTY, no players at all, the incidence rate of this double register problem goes down to about 30%.  running is much less choppy, the graphics are much less choppy, and i can more regularly expect to move to the next weapon upon hitting F.  it still happens sometimes though.

does anyone even know wtf is going on? i cant figure it out.  i just unpacked this computer on wed. and ive been trying a lot of ways to fix it but im stumped. i was told that this computer should be able to run BF2 just fine and dandy - and it does, on single player. no issues AT ALL in single player.
what kind of problem is manifesting itself just because im connecting to an online server?

[i have installed and reinstalled bf2 and sf several times now btw]

PLEASE HELP! im going crazy without my bf2!

Check out a couple of things:

1) Do you have "sticky keys" on your machine ? (the handicap aid)
2) Do you have any of those weird "mouse cursor" or smiley engines from the net installed ?
3) If you have a gigabit LAN on that PC, have you tried changing the setting for the package size ? Large packages are nice for fast data transfer of LARGE files, but it's not so practical for sending gaming data
4) Notebooks have notoriously slow Motherboards in them, have you tried running a speedtest (a la 3Dmark) ?
5) You say you've updated your GPU drivers, but have you tried updating the drivers to the rest of your hardware ?
6) While it's less likely to solve your problem, have you checked your firewall settings ?
7) While this is even LESS likely to help, have you scanned for vira or malware ?
8) TOTALLY unlikely, but do you have catspaws installed ? Or is there a remote chance that someone might have installed a program to snatch up your keyboard input ?
9) WAY impossible, but is your internet connection via a modem ? If so you might want to upgrade, modems tend to be unable to send/recieve the data fast enough to support games with more than a couple of players on them.
