BF2 history...when did it all change

Back in the gud ol' days when BF2 was new, players were fresh, everyone had social lives (even the top 10), people enjoyed a nice chat in the ol' forums with so much to say, back in the day when there was no bitching, when whoring was what prositutes did and when bunny hopping was still allowed....Did people play so hard to get points? was karkland always the favorite map? and when did people start whining so much?

I've had this game since last november, but i can remember when it first came out playing it round my friends house and there was no such thing as a 24/7 karkland map. So when did the change suddenly happen?

I got my game in Novermber as well for my birthday.

Didn't patch until December never knew you had to.

The game is still good. You're talking as if everything went awry for the game. But you're right though, I really wish there was a server out there that played every map equally in rotation. I have only seen Operation Cleansweep once for 12 minutes and I don't even remember Songhua Stalemante but apparrently I've played it a long time ago.

What irks me is that I'm still really into the game but BF2142 is coming out this year already AND it doesn't look stupid!!!!!!

I've been playing since last June, and I can tell you that there were 24/7 Karkand maps back then. And people have been bitching on this website since Chuy started the forums in late August or early September of '05. And people have complained about bunny hopping, the grenade launcher (http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=1544), and whoring (http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=615) the entire time.

There was a special feeling when I first played the game last summer, when it was inspiring to see all youre points & everytihing.

But when 1.12 came, I was unable to login anymore (17014 points wasted). JONANTONSSON

The game crashes and you try to login the same server again only to see that you have the "private bug", so you must exit the server and connect to it again to play for 10 min before the SERVER crashes instead of that the GAME crashes. In anger you turn off the game & think for youreself: "Whare has that special feeling gone?"

Im sorry ima a big fan of modern combat and NOT future type combat. I WILL NOT BUY BF2142, but i will steadily play bf2. I also hope they get rid of the rank system for bf2 altogether and switch it over to bf2142 only

I played and loved this game since the Demo. All the laming, bitching, camping whining and bunnyhopping was okay for me and I played every day this perfect modern combat simulation - then comes the day EA/Dice released Patch 1.3 - fucking movement - fucking squadsystem - fucking jeepdrops and fucking game crashes destroyed all the fun I had in this Game - since 1.3 I only played 1 or 2 days a week on public Servers - rest Clanwars - And now after I saw what comes in Patch 1.4 I quit gaming on public Servers and also quit with Clangaming.

I saw BF 2142... I saw that it would have the same fucking movement and same fucking squadsystem..

So no more Battlefield and no more EA/Dice

Same here, but this is where I differ from you. Throughout the patches, I have had no major problems. I'm fine with the changes that insue, and have dedicated my time and abilities to play with these changes.

But from my observations, it was about 20 hours of game play for the average "moaner" before they became frustrated with a part of the game, and felt it was necessary to post their gripes on a forum.

Dito - but since 1.3 you dont have fun on a Server with your buddies - I almost played with 2 - 4 friends on public Servers - since they have "fixed" the squadsystem everything becomes to a "lone-wolf" game - Squadleader is dead and your friends spawn elsewhere - so you cant play as a Team the whole time, thats frustrating.
