I took it as my first unlock. I really like the scope; I know the damage is jack compared to the AK's and the G3, but they're still 1 shot kills if its a head shot, and its better than the M16. Overall, I think its a versatile gun with a good scope. Can't wait to try the F2000

- anyone use the L85A1? What do you think?
my fave gun at the mo
I get killed by it more than I kill with it.
I take it over the M16 any day, but used to love using it. I still do, its just ever since the whole clan thing Ive been practicing with default guns. Give me full auto with medic anyday.
twas my first unlock aswell, and it is a good gun.
but i do get pissed of with the accuracy of it on full auto.

lol, me too! Here I am on Karkand all pleased with my new unlock and trying to get a feel for it, and I'm getting owned by it every 40 seconds! That and the G36C...Sambuccashake wrote:

I think the L85A1 is awesome. If you hit the right burst you are a pure killer with this thing. I personally used it a lot while playing MEDIC before to get my badge. Just tap fire a little bit and shoot in short controlled bursts. Gotta love it

The L85 is a nice gun, but pales in comparison to the G36c
The only reason so many people use the L85 is because they cant use the iron sites worth a damn.... Scopes give the False impression of accuracy... Butif you learnthe iron sites, your just as deadly.

well if im american i use the m-16 because i like the 3 round burst but if im any other i use the l85a1
It's not that bad, 34 as compared with 37, 38 and 40.Afrika_18 wrote:

The scope takes a lot of getting used to for some people but it's a scope at least, and the rifle itself is pretty darned accurate on single shot (absolutely stinks full auto though). Personally, at longer ranges I think this is the gun the sniper team has to fear the most in the upcoming contest.
The FN2000 is very disappointing to many people but the flashbangs you get along with it are well worth experimenting with and they make you a potentially great addition to a squad. To get the most from the scope I think you need to be able to have one of your graphics settings set to high (so the reticule is sharp).Afrika_18 wrote:

I've been getting killed a lot with this gun lately, but i'm not very good with it myself... I use the G36e instead. It's probably worth practising with though.
I think that is a very valid point. Does your graphic setting affect you accuracy?Todd_Angelo wrote:

For example, does running at 800x600 with everything on low mean that when you think your are lined up you are in fact wide of the mark?
The gun may not be much weaker than the AK's and such, but it certainly feels/sounds weaker. I know when I use it, it feels like I'm shooting peas, and the damage just feels worse
lol same, i just stick to AK-101Sambuccashake wrote:

That gun was shit I remember, couldn't get ANY accuracy with it even with the scope up. The best you were able to do with it was just see how far your enemy was away before they'd engage you LOL. Nowadays that gun rips through infantry like no one's business. I've JUST now started playing medic again seeing as how I've acquired expert for some other kits and decided to work on Medic now but I recall a devious experience of being support, saw a dead ally with a medic kit on the ground, noticed off in the distance some enemies coming up...
So feeling greedy I dived to the ally's body, took his kit, zapped him back, took cover, pulled out the gun and saw it was an L85A1. Frowning with concern, I decided to put it in single shot and pick them off with it, or try. Poking out, I pop two rounds in someone, down, another shot, down. Iron Gator never felt so lame as 7 guys dropped in less than 20 seconds LOL.
Indeed, the L85 is a good gun now.

I like it, for certain situations.
The single-shot and scope is great for sniping with, and the full-auto is pretty useful for really close combat. But, the gun sucks ass at mid-range fighting. For medium range, the single shot isn't fast enough, and the full-auto isn't accurate enough, so the guy with the burst weapon is going to take you to the cleaners.
I use it a good bit in Special Forces, especially on Surge and Mass Destruction (for sniping). For closer maps like Warlord or Karkand, the AK is a better weapon, though. I'll stick with the G36 for general usage, most versatile of the lot.

L85A1 is pwnage on midrange . Every second kill = headshot , scope is awesome .
the recoil on full auto is irritating but i kinda like the single shot sniper mode
i still prefer my good'ol AK-101
i still prefer my good'ol AK-101
I preffer AK-101 (when playing MEC) becouse on zoom its easier to aim then L85A1, but when im in USMC i taking L85A1 but when i see MEC Medic Kit i taking it and i preing for AK-101
the M16A2 is okay for mid-semi long ranges like alleys across the roads in karkand..but AK-101 and AK-47 still wins everything for being a old skool gun and full auto with good damage and accuracy
Definately, tap the trigger on full auto is the most accurate way to drop someone if you don't have time to set up a head shot with the semi.Stalker-NSDQ wrote:

Its a good rifle in real life too now that they have made it the A2 ver...
Absolutely awesome on single shot, but I tested on full auto with a guy who was AFK. I crouched 5 metres away from him fired in bursts at him until the clip was empty and hit him no more than 10 times, but I love it on single shot. IMO it makes a better sniper than the type-88 and SVD
