the worst complaints i have about the game are disagreements with the way it's designed. that's a philosophical difference, and not the fault of the game developer.

people know what they're getting into when they connect to a server. which is funny when you consider that they bitch like being tk griefed was a new thing.

Its becasue people dont feel the need to speak out if they're happy. But they'll moan and bitch endlessly at the lsightest bad thing.

I hear where you are coming from as far as the number of people who bitch about the game.  The intensity with which many people complain about EA at times is embarassing to listen to.  Personally I think its a great game and kudo's to EA for making it.  I think they deserve every penny they make from it and I don't see anything wrong with charging $9.99 for the booster packs either.  I can tell you that already I've gotten far more enjoyment out of playing the boosters than I have out of the last couple of movies that I paid $9.99 to go see.  Its true that the crashes are annoying with 1.3 patch...but fuck...its a game, just re-join the fucking server and wait for the next patch for shit sakes.  Enough with the whole "crucify EA" mentality...

Well that's a little skewed, you're just noticing the complaints more I don't, and I'm sure there are loads of others who agree, feel like starting threads going: Man, I really love dat L96A1, it's super doper! or Don't you just love claymores?! Because 1, who cares? 2, er, who cares?

Fair enough, but let's be honest here, great game though BF2 is it is highly flawed and there is a lot to complain about. So you think there could be a "small number of improvements made"? Lemme give you a short list from the game in its current incarnation:
CTD and other issues with 1.3 (hourly occurrence for some unlucky guys don't forget);
J-10 too dominant over other jets in whatever map it features;
hits that don't register, sometimes again and again (puff of smoke, no hit indication);
knife strikes that don't register, grrrrrrr;
bullets that magically disappear in flight;
dynamic shadows (and other graphics settings) resetting for no apparent reason inside a server;
joining a server to find your rank hasn't been loaded so you probably don't have your unlocks available, but if they are you can't work towards any advanced awards because your actual stats aren't being used as the basis (e.g. I just got basic explosive ordinance, for the fifth or sixth time);
red-name glitch still here, despite how many patches?

Remember this doesn't even touch on patch-specific issue like the PKM massively overcompensated in 1.2 (?) and that sort of thing.

And then there's the experience of online gaming, which a great many of the complaints revolve around, which are basically complaints about stupid behaviour, which are a normal part of the human experience from what I can see. So while I agree the complaining can get tedious at times complaining about the complaining is pointless
