Ok, so I have this problem. When I start a game I always get this big lag of 1-2 minutes where I just cant do anything, so I have to spawn far from everything just to be sure I wont get killed and after that I dont get any lag and I stay with a fluid 30 ping.

Also, sometimes when I load a map it can take another 1 or 2 minutes just for me to be able to enter the map. So my teamates already took a few flags and I didn't even spawn.

What botters me is that I still have a good computer : 3.2 GHZ 1G Ram and a 256 G-Force video card. I can play most of my games in extrem graphics (Doom 3, Far Cry, Half-Life 2,...) but in Battlefield 2 for some reason its slow.

Is it because I am connecter to a rooter? Is it my computer? My configurations? Or because I suck in computers? Anyway I'm still good when the game starts it's just...frustrating.

Anyone can give me a tip?

Similar computer for me except my Gfx card is 512.  I get similar lag it, but it is only for at most 20 seconds.  That is only when loading a new map.  It has got to be related to your Ram

I used to get massive lag when the game started.
I switched to 2gb of ram, everything loads quick and i get about 3 seconds of lag, i just spin around and shoot a few bullets so it loads everything and gets rid of the lag. I also run the game on high settings at max rez

As some of the guys have already said, the problem is probably RAM related.

Because BF2 uses about 1.5Gb of memory, you have some info in RAM and some info in pagefile, the lag is the time it take the BF2 game engine to get at the data that is in slow pagefile.

If you cant afford to get another 1Gb of RAM but you do have more than one hard drive then you could try running your pagefile on the hard drive that does not have your OS \ BF2 instal on it. This will get you a small performance gain, but more RAM is the way forward.

Hope this info helps dude.
