No, they don't lock on. I shoot down enemy UAVs all the time if they're in view. But on more than one occasion I have crashed into the damn thing trying to shoot at it since it's fairly small (and moves fairly quickly) so I try to keep my distance.

You don't show up as a target in an APC to bombers if you are in a passenger seat, even though the APC would still retain heat. It locks on drivers.
