I love being picked up by the scan. It gives me some challenge. I dislike just walking in unnoticed, and having nothing to do but cap the back flags. It gives me a rush to be a one-man squad, armoured convoy, asset killer. Also, a lot of times the enemy won't bother attacking me when they have a higher concentration of points a few seconds away.
Tips that I use for self-preservation and uber ownage:
1. When you hear arty or you even just think you are hearing arty, move! If you are moving then move at a 90 degree or opposite direction from where you are going.
2. Try not to take the direct route.
3. If you have been spotted, and then get out of their site, make it look like you are moving to somewhere predictable and then do something else. For example, at Gatehouse, make it look like you are going inside the building, but actually plant C4 around the corner and try to get on top of the building. If you fail to get on top and the enemy rounds the corner, blow the C4.
4. Use the silenced pistol as much as possible from concealed places. The only person that know what direction you are firing from is the victim.
5. Use grenades and try to master the right-click throw as much as possible to get more accuracy out of your throws. I have gotten pretty good at throwing grenades by using this method and my accuracy is increasing as a result of this. Only throw one or two at a time, no need to spam the grenades just to get one or two guys. One almost-hit will weaken them enough for a few rounds of your carbine or pistol.
6. If you are good at using your knife and have gotten the expert knife badge before the latest patch you have most likely learned how to be stealhy enough to sneak up on people. I have used this stealth to sneak up on armoured vehicles to great success to a point that the commander is doing full-time surveillance over their armour just to let them survive for longer than two minutes. Practice attacking infantry from the side and back. Resist confronting them head-on. You may win the battle, but the other guys behind him will probably just finish you off when you are trying to reload.
7. Always, always always use cover and try to make yourself a small target. Personally, I have found more success hiding while crouching than by being prone. You don't have your legs or arms sticking out of walls (of which I have gotten a few dirty knife kills ;P) and you have better control of where your silhouette is against snipers. Also hits against your body aren't necessarily headshots than if they were in a one-on-one firefight prone against an enemy (only your shoulders and head is visible).
8. When firing try to use the iron sights as much as possible. Generally, I fire while crouching using the iron sight and firing in small bursts. Then get out of the iron sight, strafe a bit then use the iron sight and fire a burst again.
Using these tactics will help minimize the "nuisance" of the commander's scan.
