Time Tracking for Helicopter Ribbon and Badge Question

To earn the Helicopter ribbon and the Helicopter bages, in order for your time spent in the chopper to count, do you need to be piloting the chopper or can you be a gunner? I swore I spent more than 15 minutes as a gunner IAR and I wasn't awared with the ribbon as UBAR suggests I should have been.

I wouldn't mind knowing this either. I also think the time tracking on some of the servers isn't the greatest. When I was trying to get my ground defense ribbon I spent close to 10 minutes in it before it popped up with the award.

From personal experience, you can't get the helo or aviator ribbons as a gunner...they have to be obtained as a pilot.

You can get either in any position.

That's odd...I spent 30 minutes as a gunner one round and didn't get it. Barely met the req the next round as a pilot and got it. My apologies...I'm dumb.

yea, another one of my clanmates who is obsesed with the awards but really sucks as a pilot got his heli and aviator ribbons in the gunner seat of the chopper and bomber while i was flying, though he had to get the kill himself.

you have to get kills as either and the amount of time in either to get it.. if you are unsuccessful in getting kills during the time frame you will not be awarded it.. atleast from my experience in witnessing people and myself get it
