ok so there are three ads for this one of them is the one we see at the top of the page, another one is black and white chicks looking at each other and the other one is the black chick pinning the white chick on the ground.

now that i have seen all three of the Ads i have to say it takes the WTF factor away. i mean if Milk.org was to post this picture first would we all still be talking about it???

i think once you see the rest of the ads for the white psp you will feel slightly different to the situation.

How does that picture sell me on the new, white PSP?  "The old black PSP hands its azz to it, but hey, it's WHITE!"  Doesn't seem like much more than a GetOutOfJailFree card for Sony, for when the controversy gets going.

And even so, the overall impression created is still white and black, battling it out for, uh... supremacy.  It's pretty clear Sony know exactly what they're doing, and that this is all a highly calculated result.  I just think it's in poor taste.

Why?  The creator of that comic is a fuckwit, and his cartoons are, by and large, only mildly funny.  He raises no valid points in that article.

now that i have seen this i dont think its that bad taste, there are more ads that sony is doing in this group of 'white and black' psp ads, also i dont think the ads are trying to sell you the white psp they are just letting you know that its coming. they want you to take a look at it.

i also dont think that its a GetOutOFJailFree card its just clever advertising, my other point is if my picture was posted first would this thread be 2 pages long? i doubt it very much.
it seems sony do know what they are doing when it comes to advertising, i mean its got its own thread on BF2s

The point is that in America there was a large history of slavery and racism, if u look at all the advertisments its not really a racist statement...

ppl in the end will still bitch, even if they had a white chick wearing black ppl will say sony dont like black ppl thats why they wont put them in the ad

No one is doubting Sony's marketing acumen.  What's at issue is whether it's irresponsible to reap human attention for a product off the back of racial tensions, whether in Europe, America or Antarctica.  Yes, it's clever.  Yes, we're all talking about it.  It's still in poor taste.

It's not to do with the actual consoles themselves it's about the way they advertise it (see pic). It could be considered racist or just another way for the advertisers to try and shock us to make an impact. If the latter is it justified?
Controversy and/or weirdness sells. Remember that weird man/duck advert when the PS2 came out? God knows wot it wos all about but it certainly got people curious and interested.

This is gonna go down in history as one of the most unorthodox, yet successful advertising campaigns ever. They put that ad up in a relatively neutral country where it's not going to annoy too many people. It gets on the web. Heated discussion ensues in every corner of the web. The advertisement reaches FAR FAR FAR beyond it's "intended audience".

My thoughts? The ad isn't that great in the first place. They just wanted it to provoke discussion that would spread their advertisement further. They had probably planned to pull the ad from the beginning (which they did, I understand).

The effect? They put it on a couple billboards in a relatively small country and it ended up on hundreds of popular forums and discussion sites around the world. Extremely cost effective marketing, you might say!

I highly doubt that it will "go gown in history" every other day we seem to be looking at a new "oh, how horrible" ad.

Anyways, who cares about that damn ad??? That black woman in it certainly didn't care when she agreed to the photoshoot...unless it wos done against her will but then again I doubt very much that that wos the case.

Those are technically and artistically great pictures, and would be very flat without the contrast those two women have. They look very tasty to me. And you sound like grannies who wanted to ban H&M underwear ads here. How can such a sensitive person play game like BF ?

edit. couple of typos

Not saying they should be banned, or boycotted or whatever, but I think you realize that.  I'm just saying that in countries where some genetic diversity actually exists , that can be construed as offensive.

I'm all for underwear ads, though.  Especially grannies in underwear ads.  Um...

I forgot from my post. Where that Espoo came from? If you keep insulting me, we'd better swap to german.

If there was a black woman grabbing white womans face nobody would react. I see nothing bad on that one, maybe because my country has no history of slavery or racism - and therefore I don't owe anything to black, yellow or green.
I wish more people in AMERICA believed this also. I personally feel I dont owe People of color One damn thing. Im NOT responsable for what my forefathers did in the past. Also, I have a problem with the whole african pride thing,(i agree slavery was wrong in so many ways) But honestly, Where would you rather be? In america or The UK, or back or still in Africa where you get killed for Breathing, Or die of aids.

Most countries Outside the US run Racey ads, Alot with nudity, So i dont see where this crosses any lines Outside the US.The USA,  peeps are right, there would be lawsuits because everyone of color is so uptight and more than willing to play the race card On ANYTHING involving a person of color in ANY situation includeing an Ad on TV. If theres an easy way to make a buck, they cry foul, or raceism. If they could sue coffee makers because coffee is black, and you make it Lighter because you add cream, That could be construed as Raceist. LOL
