What can you do more in a plane with a joystick, than with mouse & keyboard

Becaus if it's really needed to be a good pilot, i'll buy a Sidewinder 2 then.

So : what are the advantages if you have a joystick .

but i can aim much more precised with mouse... maybe just training!

Well I've flowing with both and hands down using a joystick for me is the only way to go. Joysticks are more responsive and allow smoother transitions. I have 7 programable buttons on the top of my joystick so I have everything I need, i.e. change view, flares, fire 1, fire 2, afterburner, chaff, etc. I can use with my right index finger or thumb, which allows the other hand to be free (for drinking beer & voip), lol...

You'll just have to drop the $$$$ and see if you like it better than mouse/keyboard combo. I reccomend it!

Besides you can always sell the joystick if you don't like it.

Also go for the Satiek Cyborg Evo only about $30.00 and it beats the hell out of my sidewinder 2.

If you have your joystick in your lap, you are not getting very much advantage

Because it is unsteady and you are treating comfort with manouverbility.

The F-16 for example, instead of having the stick in the middle of the canopy, it's a little stick (very similar to joystick) to the right of the pilot's seat, this might make the hand a bit more tired, since only the right hand has it and you can't rest your arms on your hips/thighs but it makes the plane a lot more sharp and quick.

Well, it is supposed to aid manouverbility in high g-force turns, but I find it better to have the joystick to the right next to my mouse.

Although I use a joystick for my serious flying games, I don't like to use it in BF2. Instead I use a Logitech gamepad, which is like an old Playstation controller. Flying the F-35 is kinda quirky with the joystick, because of how the hover activates. It flies a lot better with a gamepad in my opinion.

Another plus is that I can use my gamepad to drive land vehicles as well.

Oh.. and if you're looking for a joystick, don't go for Logitech.

lol, seems like they've only got different colour schemes. I've got the extreme 3d pro, and it has served me very well. 2 months with a keyboard/mouse, and 3 with a joystick. I can say without a doubt that the joystick is better.

Well,on a standardised 6x4 gegplax layout joystick you can have a opimal maximum of 6 buttons.

But we all know that the new 9860x cyberstem elite will be the new and updated zico system xvx pro.

I am just getting into flying and I do mean just now...but I am using the 3d pro and I like it. But I never even bothered trying the keyboard and mouse since I already had a Joystick.

I would think the Joystick would be much better.

No i burnt my joytick a long time ago.

And CSS broke for me,won't play so i'm thinking of punching it...

Advantages of a Joystick:
- more realism (cmon, you don't feel like an aviator while moving around your mouse, do you?)
- better control of throttle (not just full throttle and no throttle - with a joystick, everything between 0 % and 100 % is possible)
- much more relaxing than mouse (not much movement is required)
- you can fly one-handed if you want to something else with the other hand
- some moves are easier (ok, some moves are easier with the mouse too, that doesn't really count as an advantage)
