Greetings all-

One question, when one looks at the mini-map, shown here:

http://www.geocities.com/aanippl/minimap.jpg

You can see where you are and the white triangular lines shows your field of view.  But there are two lines that go from one side to the other; one is closer to you, and the other is a bit farther.  I am assuming that these lines represent distance from where you are.  But what are those distances?

Thanks-

no idea i just usually use UAV to help judge distance and you can figure out where someone is by just looking at them on the map and any knowledge of the area

The distance depends on the map, none are the same size minimap.

Yeah, I think they're just there to make the arc of viewing angle clearer.

I use them when getting close-in artillery support.  When I'm holding off of a target, and arty is inbound, I've got a safe buffer between myself and the arty at the nearest arch to my position.

At what view scale though? The distance they mark is relative, not absolute.

I run my map at the medium zoom.

it is just to to view the relative distance of a target.  The lines make it easier to see things in relation to you.

the farthest line maybe represents the longest grenade throw possible without jumping ? (~)

It's meant to designate which segment of the POV circle that your looking through.

If It didn't had the lines, and your blue dot didnt have the arrow, one could assume you were looking the other way, although that would be pretty stupid.

Those two counter measures are put in to guard against the few, the proud, the retarded.
