I know that BF2 is just a game, but I would like to know where people stand on EA's ranking system.  I am amazed in some posts people have made about some of EA's overall top players, gossipping like they are gods.

It just makes me wonder if some people truly understand that EA's ranking of players is only based on accumulated global score, not player performance.

Are you satisfied?

i just reached a thousand points today (hooray for me!) and to me 2500 till the next ranking seems an enormous stretch.......
i don't think of the top 10 as gods though, its just a game i'll get sick of in time.....
if anything i would rather think they've got too much time on their hands, lol.

I dont mind it. Maybe if they supplied a more accurate ranking of skill....

They should lower everything by a factor of 2. Rank wise. That way more casual gamers can have unlocks more. Also they need to get rid of the 100+ hour reqs for everything. Its ridiculous. I should have to spend 100 hours with something to be "Veteran" good at it. Hell Im good enough at sniping to be an expert but no I could spend 100 hours. And they should add a Medal of Honor. Awarded to people with like insane number of Teamwork points. Around 100 thousand.

I liked the ranks before the patch, when the unlocks weren't handed to you for free.

Other than that the ranking system is fine I guess.  There's not official way to see how "skilled" someone is, considering the massive diversity of the game and what they chose to play, either on the ground, in a tank, jet, heli or whatever.

the good thing about the ranks before was that unlocks weren't so much unlocks anymore. I mean, you work hard for that gun and you get it and you like to show it off.

Now, however, everyone has it and so you're just another one of 'em.
But now it's also nice to see the difference in people's experience/rank. Before, on a typical 32 player server, there'd be around 24 lance corps, 4 privates, 2 private first class and 2 corporals, maybe even a sergeant.

I felt sooooo good to be a corporal, finally separating me from the rest of the lance corps. Since the gap was tremendous (1,000 to 10,500 points) You had a literally huge range of players, from newly lance to almost corp, making it hrad to distinguish how good (metaphorically) they were. Now with the new ranks you have a more accurate display of ranks.

i chose "dont really care"   i do like it n all but i dont follow it playing for hours and hours to get to the next rank    but i use it for keeping track of kills and deaths (like the bit in my sig )    also nice to see the most played soldier you play as standing there  (sniper for me )

Nope, needs to be based on SPM, KPM, KDR, DPM, W/L ratio and maybe a little Global Score. Also has to be based on 40% vehicle and 60% infantry.

Hah yeah it seems a long time...I"m working on getting 8000 points for my next promotion, currently sitting at like 5200 or so.  Well, in the old rank system it was real points intesne and it discouraged me because I felt it impossable to ever get up to anything past sgt.
