- Helicopter Rear Rotor Damage - Causes Uncontrolable Spinning
That might make for some pretty sweet animation, especially if the passengers/pilots that try to bail out also get killed as the spinning death trap hits them. I can picture the BH doing just that over Mashtuur...
That sounds like a fun idea.
Lets add to it though. I think that if the pilot is killed the helo should go down, unless someone is quick enough to press F1 and gain control. I snipe quite often and generally take the 'long-shot' to take out a transport pilot (assuming he's in a hover or has his nose to me). Every once in a whlie you get a great head shot and see his body slump over. Except, once he's dead, the helo goes into an auto-hover and starts spinning and rising. I just wish they would make it so the helo goes nose down right after a kill like that. Would be nice to get credit for the kills of the passengers too, but that would be wishful thinking.

They wouldn't do this. They softened up the helo controls for this game so that any boob can fly one even half assedly. I miss DC where it required skill to fly choppers. I especially miss the nimble littlebirds.mantisboy sniper wrote:

maybe if you could eject instead of just suddenly falling it would be sweet
If I was to eject from a chopper, I would hope to suddenly fall. The ground is more appealing than rotor blades.FourStars wrote:

As for ejecting from a plane, to get the realism, you would be stuck in a chair with no control over your chute.
And they softened up the controls to make the game more fun for the majority of players.
I'm looking to buy a joystick today and would like to know if you can use both joystick(to fly) and keyboard/mouse(all other controls) to play?I have a steering wheel I use for armor, etc. and was hoping the joystick could be used for flying only and still be able to use wheel/mouse/ keyboard for all other controls?
sorry this isnt exactly related to this thread, but I could'nt find where I could start a topic?
I intend on learning to fly in single player mode as I felt it would be the best place to do so as to not damage my stats anymore than they already are, good idea? I'm guessing a joystick would work better than a mouse or wheel. agree?
thanx in advance for your help/opinons...YaNk

i quite like the idea of rear rotor damage, as for ejecting, remember the film 007: goldeneye with the tiger attack chopper, i think that would work
P.S. i would b a gd attack chopper pilot if my PC didnt freeze up fr a sec then i plummit 2 the ground!
fr me, i stick 2 the Blk hawk.

Dunno about rotor damage in THAT sense, but what about having the rotor being hit do more damage than to the rest of the copter? SImilar to how hitting the rear or treads on tanks does more damage in BF2 now, as it realistically should. Or is this already implemented and hits to a heli's rotor already do extra damage?

the rotor blades come off before ejecting, correct me if im wrong
i reckon the missile helis in desert combat were way easier to get kill withSlickWRX wrote:

once i killed with SVD headshot a pilot of Black Hawk which was trying to land on the roof of Hotel at Gulf of Oman when a was on it. And the helic banked aside and due to the small height none of passengers was smart enough to get what is happening and jump out))
But i read before that only M95 is capable to penetrate cockpit glass... may be it concerns of fight helics only?

Yes, well this is already in effect and yes the weakest part of any chopper is their rear roter, not the main body like some like to think.
And since someone started asking about joysticks, what models does everyone use? Id really like to know because i can not out dogfight all the JS Aviators out there.
Cheers

well, i think they must put up the Rotors must be a solid object...and create a small animation for fucktards that climb up an BH to get the pilot teamkills .... so if a rotor hits a body they cut in half .... that would be fucking funny to see a text ''Punishing Bastard Got Cutted in half'' after it just like he died...heheheh
That would be a sweet mod. Also if your flying a plane and a missle hits your tail or wing, the wing would be very unstable and JUST holding on also you wouldnt be able to fly straight and it would be hard to turn, or maybe a missle or bomb wont launch and fail on the plane. Instead of just the plane smoking
Yeah, cool idea, as long as the disabled chopper crash lands as opposed to just blowing up on impact. Crash landings are sweet.

yes you can, i just bought a Satiek X52 joystick/throttle, (reccommended) its so niceNAG_YaNk wrote:

Agreed, it gets kind of irritating on maps like Songhua Stalemate where one guy just circles the Blackhawk around the outposts while his mate blasts everything moving with the unlimited ammo chaingun. Meanwhile you're putting rockets and cannon rounds into this thing from an armoured car and it's just not dying.. A single tail rotor hit should bring down any chopper. Snipers should be able to hit the tail rotor hub with the M95 too, that'd make for some sweet kills.
when you bail out, the choppers do that.
you couldnt make hitting the tail rotor with a shot capabale of shooting down any chopper. Its the whole sense of health in the game, just like tank shells dont kill tanks in one shot, just like rockets dont shoot down jets in one shot. If choppers went down after fire to the tail rotor then itd be too easy to shoot them down and no one would fly them anymore, hence - no fun. LoS-Infinity had a good idea with the tail rotor doing more damage to the helo's overall health when hit.
I also agree with improving the M95 to do damage to vehicles when shot at certain "soft points" on those specific vehicles. In real life the gun is used to destroy hard targets in comparison to vehicles, so why not in game too? I just dont see the point in the M95 anymore since the M24 does equal damage and is more accurate according to this site. - sorry bout gettin off topic..lol, any comments?

Um...No, I never owned a joystick and the first 50 hours of gameplay, I couldn't even fly straight and onot flip over (think mistaking a helo as a plane) after thatm it was still pretty cruddy since there's no AA missile but the AAguns in DC could pretty much take you down with a single long burst. With unguided missile, the so called "missile helis" of DC were couldn't blow up a tank in one shot unless you happen to damage it with rocket pods first, then a direct hit to the back face it, it was crap, even when crack pilots are using itjax wrote:

You can't hit the aircraft crew inside with a SVD, don't be such a idiot.georgysb wrote:

it woud be cool
cool, but not plausible.
i praise for the day chopper damage takes a big turn to realisem - chopper flying is easy enuf as it is.. lets up the anti ... a rocket to the back of a chopper should realy screw up ur rotters making it smoke up like crazy an 5 times harder to control... choppers dominate 2 much in this game i realy hope they downgrade them with realistic damage
