Ok, so this afternoon i decided to ply a little bf2. So i log on to discover that there's no sound. I proceed to the Sound options, and it tells me to reset to defaults. So i do. Then it says my system cannot handle defaults and return to defaults. (never ending circle of nothingness). I then log on to TS, only to fiund that my system cannot handle anything having to do with TS. I talked to my friend about it and he thinks my integrated card was fried, and that i should get a new one. Ones he suggested ran at about $70 total for S&H and the card itself. Is there anything i can do to try and make this sonofabitch work or must i buy a sound card?

PS, i have a dell. w/ stock mobo and integrated sound card, so i have no clue what sound i have.)

You could just go to Wal-Mart and get a cheapo sound card for like $30 or something.  They're not much and it would be just the same, if not better than on-board sound.  It doesn't sound like you want to spend the money on a gamer card like an X-Fi or anything, so I would suggest that.  Just buy the card, take off the side of the case, install the card into a PCI slot (on the bottom of the motherboard), run the driver CD with the card, and you should be good to go with possibly better sound than before.  Install the card, while the PC of unplugged, of course.

Buy some sort of sound card, doesn't matter how much you get it for but you will notice BF2 go faster as well as an increase in sound quality for EVERYTHING over integrated.  They usually have their own processor dedicated to sound so it takes a large load off the main processor because the main one doesn't have to focus any of it's power on making sound.

I need a sound blaster 24-bit, that sucks.  That's the one last thing I need for my comp to be complete as far as main components go.  Don't even bother trying to fix your integrated sound, too time-consuming for something that might not even work, plus sound cards are way better, plus your integrated probably died.
