G'Day All,

I am just getting into this BF2 - looks pretty damm awsome.  At the moment only playing Single Player in an effort to become mor fimiliar with the game before I go on-line.

There are few icons on the screen which I am unsure of:

1.  What does this icon indicate ??  https://members.optusnet.com.au/~pgmoscatt/THING.jpg

2.  The line which is going away from me at aprox 200 degrees - what is this indicating ?
https://members.optusnet.com.au/~pgmoscatt/LINE.jpg

3.  I am assuming that the Green and Blue numbered circles are my team but not sure what the number represents.

Thanks for the help in advance.

That Icon means, "Attack This Position" . The Line is Directing you to Your Target, Attack, Move, Defend. And, The Number Represents, Squads / Squad Numbers.

ok the all these are commands from your commander or squad leader. they are telling u what to do

sword: attack
shield: defend
arrow: move there
mines: mine that position
wrench: get repairs to that position.

Did i miss any?

and the #'s are the number of the squad.. like alpha is 1, bravo is 2 and so on.

a blue player icon means he is on your team. a green player icon means he is on your team and in your squad.

Any more questions?

Addition: The player icons w. numbers on them are the leaders of respective squads.

Hey dude, and welcome to the game.

The answer to your question has been concisely covered above but the one thing I would add is that although single player will get you used to the controls it will not prepare you very well for the game. Online is a whole new ball game and I would honestly recommend throwing yourself in at the deep end, get in the games and have some fun.

There are a lot of experienced players out there who will let you tag along, learn the ropes, and show you the short cuts on maps etc.

See you on the battlefield soldier!

Just please, please, please don't get in helicopters or jets without first practicing in single player.

Seconded, I still don't get in them. I suck, I know I suck, I leave the flying to someone who'll help the team.

And to add, if you are gonna fly when you think you're good enough, wait your turn. Don't TK people so that you can get to the jet, the person you have TK'd might be a lot better than you. If they're good, you'll have to find yourself something else to play with. If they suck and shouldn't have been in the jet in the first place they'll crash it, and it'll be respawing with you soon enough.

And don't even think about Commanding until you've been playing in a squad for awhile and heard/seen how a good commander does his job.

If you have the option to get online, do it ASAP.  It is so much better than single player.

However, you must also be warned that this game (some people think of it more as a lifestyle) is more addictive than crack.  So say good bye to your non-gaming friends, quit work/school now and leave the girlfriend/wife, it'll save a lot of time and heartbreak in the future!!

Good luck and welcome to our World

yep practice in single player but it gets a whole lot harder on line again. The one thing you cant practice is TV missiles cause the bots like to 'bail out' as soon as they are hit... and that happens way to often.
