- Road To Jalalabad's plane gone
Actually, here in America, the news media outlets agreed not not show the footage of the planes hitting the WTC towers because "it was too traumatic." So, from about November 2001 on, they haven't showed that footage on TV. All they will show is the WTC towers smoking, but still up.Snake wrote:
Looking at the screenshots, with the plane, it looks pretty good. Its unique and you wont find that on any other BF2 map.
So what if it bears a slight resemblance to 9/11? They show the footage of the planes hitting the towers on the news all the time. If you ask me, that is more "offensive" than some game with a plane in a building.
And in case you forget, with 9/11, the planes blew up completely straight away and there was no wreckage hanging out of the building - so this bears no resemblance.
Hell, they are even making a film of 9/11....
In that case, with Wake, why do they still have the downed WW2 Japanese Zero fighters in the water? Wouldnt that be offensive to some Japenese people? Ok, lets take them out as well while we are at it.
In fact, wouldnt it be "offensive" to "recreate" the whole Wake Island theme???
Oh, a tank got blown up in WW2, we better not have that smoking wreckage on our new Road Rage map.
I hate all of this politically correct bullshit in the world these days.
In my opinion, this allows the American public, who have never been noted for theri attention span anyway, to carry on and try to forget it ever happened. After all, if we were reminded, we might actually be tempted to go out and change the world; and who knows where that might lead?
I just think its sad that the world (or maybe just America) is so stuck up their own asses that something as unimportant as scenery in a game may have grounds for legal action against its creators.xintegrityx wrote:
There's an infamous example: somebody won a lawsuit against McDonald's because he spilled coffee on himself and the coffee was too hot. So don't think people can't get away with ridiculous lawsuits.dquinner wrote:
Who in their right mind would try sue EA over this? Name one person and on what grounds? Seriously name one person. I cant even imagine a court considering this case. Complete BS!908741059871059781 wrote:
Regaurdless of your standpoint of 9/11, think about how much it matters if the plane is or isn't in the game. Does it really matter either way? Everyone is lawsuit happy nowadays, and EA is just avoiding lawsuits. Taking a plane out of a building doesn't effect anyone or the game.
I'm thinking you have alot of time on your hands and just having nothing better to do.
It's not hard to understand, and I don't blame EA/DICE at all for removing the plane.
Ya, just America...right. Now who is ignorant?
I wonder if they had a bunch of dead Irish people laying around pretending to be a potato famine, you might say something. Or if they had black people hanging from a tree, you might say something.

People are gonna be gay about it if there's a reference to 9/11 in the game.
Thanks for adding to the thread._j5689_ wrote:

So I guess "9/11: The Game" is probably out of the question then?

If the plane was indeed removed so that it wouldn't offend anyone due to 9/11 I am 100% against it. If they start removing objects from a game so they don't offend any group they will have to start 'sanitizing' all of their battlefields. It's a war game, about war, set in a war environment... planes will be shot down in a war. I say keep the plane in the game.
If the plane was removed to prevent some sort of glitching or cheat then I'm all for it.

At that rate Karkand would be ashes and rebuilt about 20 times.-[Silver.Inc* wrote:
Maybe the wreckage burned up and now its just broken up to that much of the plane?
I bet the person who complained about it barely plays BF2, if at all.
I rekon the lag whiners came in and blamed lag on the plane.
"Im lagging OMG remove teh plane!!!! its too much for my Gfx CARD!!11one1eleven"
