Hi there, I'm totally n00bish at flying helicopters and airplanes so my question is, what is the most recommended configuration of the controls of both vehicles in BF2? In hopes that I can improve my flying. Thanks in advance.
for flying planes id get a joystick and for the chopper i just use the keyboard and mouse and just practise.
secondededed. Jet=Joy (I was trying without one, then when I got the joystick I discovered it is actually quite easy to fly), though I find the joystick just doesn't work with the choppers - KB+Mousey it stays.
Well, but did you changed any of the configurations in the controls that it has by default?
I personally use the Keyboard and Mouse for the Trasnport Heli.
The Attack Chopper is a toss up. Some people use K+M and other use a Joystick due to its quick maneuverability and speed.
For the Jets there is no option but to use a Joystick. K+M is just too clumsy and slow for Jets.
As for Key configurations that is mainly up to the person. Joystick button config as well.

i use only the keyboard(wasd & arrows) for plane and chopper. it think its better because the mouse and joystick are both very sensitive and u can easily crash with one wrong movement.
but just try the differnt ways and you will see what's best.

I only fly the Attack heli (no good in a jet) and I always use a joystick. I've used it since I started flying, so I wouldn't have it any other way. The ability to maneuver and fire at the same time seems like it would be a slower process with a KB+M.
i ALWAYS change the defaut configs in games. But what works for others might not work for you - you have to find something that feels right, and you can only do that with trial and error. Literally, stick yer hand on the keyboard, see which keys are comfortable to rest your fingers on, reassign the keys accordingly. If the control method doesn't feel right in the game, reassign key by key. I usually had to do this 3 times - once overall, and then another two times fixing this one key, and then that one, until it felt right. - but it's always worth it, because games are always easier to play.shikimoribito wrote:

What the piss? I didn't even know you COULD use a joystiq in bf2! Admittedly, I didn't look very hard but, still... Is it only for the vehicles, or can I use it for infantry, too?
gee, are you being sarcastic?'Nipr.[net wrote:
