hi, i didnt search befor i posted because i dont really know what i would look for..
but basically my problem is my bf2 is running like shit.
i recently formated my computer.
befor i did my bf2 rean great on high with 1024x700 res and no problems at all, but for some reason my bf2 randomly stoped working, it would start loading then nothing happend, i tried for 2 weeks to fix it but nothing so i formated.
now im running on 800x600 on medium and its unblelivebly choppy.
what i think it is, is that my computer says my harddrive is 250gb wich is true but befor i loaded anything on my computer it said 120gb is already used, so i figure its not partioned correctly or somthing, so i guess i might be looking for a tool that will partion, or tell the computer that this space isnt used and maybe thats the problem.. anyways

**Syspem Specs**
Amd Athlon 2400+ 2.2ghz (for some reason computer says only 2ghz)
radeon x1300 pro (warcat drivers)
1.50 gb ram
250 gb hd

and like i said befor my game settings are on Medium without dynamic lighting or shadows at 800x600.

thx

Most common cause of problems such as these is not playing with all the most up to date drivers. Made even more likely by the fact you just formatted (and thus deleted any drivers you may have had).

Update your sound/video drivers. DirectX even. Everything you can update, update.

yea everything is completly up to date, but i have an x-fi music and running sound on ultra, but befor i formatted this was fine.. could that be a bit of the problem? or even do you think it might be good to put on an old radeon driver then update it untill i get to the newest one?

Wow, I'm having a very similar problem...My hard drive crashed and I had to reload windows and everything onto my new hard drive.  I purchased a 160gig HD, but my windows only recognizes 137 of those gig.  Anyway, I also upgraded from a 6800GTOC card to a 7800GSOC video card before redoing the HD.  When I get into a game, I'm fine until I get to a area that has multiple players, my game then get s so choppy that it is hard to move and I often get killed before I see it happen.

I was using the driver that came with the card, but then moved up to a driver from tweaks R us, but had no affect, game is still very choppy.  I'm back to the 81.93 drivers...so any help would be great.

Some manufacturer count gig as 1000000000bit when it actually is 1073741824bit so that's why the size of the HD sometimes is smaller than what it said in the package

well right now im running on low, and it almost seems that low, medium, and high all run exactly the same wich is very bad, as for the tweaks iv used a few of hose here and there, and they do work, but theres something els in play here... also my windows dose recognize 250gb, it jus says 125gb is used when its noit being used.

oh and wraith, my hd is 250gb, but its acually 233gb, thats normal.

Well Mike233, most of every1 uses geforce 6600+ or higher. ur using a low graphics card. and ur processor is only 2400 amd. By using a 3200 amd processor is the best.those 2 r not good for some bf2 action. Even on low, it'll still lag. Maybe u should update or comp more or start working. 2 gb for ur hardrive is the best. so is 1gb. if u update to those, ur comp will run faster and ur game play will be the best. trust me. Im running a 4000 amd processor, with a 6800xt geforce. with 2 gb of hardrive.

Here is what I'm running and still I get lag:

2 gig(3200 if I remember correctly)AMD 64 processor on a gigabyte 939 motherboard
BFG 7800 GS OC video card AGP 8x with a tweaks R us driver
just over 2 gig of RAM
seagate 7200rpm 160 gig HD

On all setting it plays the same, choppy as hell...I didn't have this with my old 40gig HD, same processor, a 6800 GTOC video card, same amount of ram...so what could it be??

its not a matter of hardware though, like i said befor i formatted i could run everything on high with no lag at all..  and now any setting runs the same.. i jus reinstalled so im gona give that a go right now. and it seems a few people are haveing the same problem as me..

Well i ran my bf2, and yes iv noticed a difference, but not a very good one, im still on low settings and its not running to well..
