I have a mate who is unbelievable with the TV missiles, it's great just flying around letting him blow tanks off the ground. It's really satisfying when you see one raping a bunch of your teammates on the ground, then you see your gunner take it out with a precision missile. Aaaaaaaaaaah

EDIT: Come to think of it, I think I remember seeing this, [bowthorpe]dave on the same server I was playing on before, we both got in a chopper, I was gunner and he was pilot, but he told me to get out like you...(I will solo pilot if I get the chance to, but if a team member asks for a pickup, I'll give them one...) I refused to, then he kept flipping and barrel rolling pretending he was going to crash. But he eventually gave up and flew into the action. We died soon after and I ran to the heli pad, where he was waiting, I found it funny when he tried to tk me with a gun considering that the server had FF off...The chopper spawned and I was finally pilot and he was gunner, still telling me to bail out, yet again I refused to and I didn't actually die...

I think that they made it so you can't do it anymore in the 1.3 patch (not that I'd notice!). Someone confirm this for me.

the gunner of a chopper is the real danger to the enemy team, tanks, choppers and vehicles can die in one shot and aa has less chance to kill u, and in tournaments the pilot just keep the chopper high and the gunner blow everything.

i think that moron will change to tv to try to kill tanks, but against another chopper is useless because they hit him with mg, pilot rockets and tv missiles and u can only hit them with pilot ones

Yes you can still do that in 1.3.

If he tked you for the chooper you should have taked a screen shot, if you did you'd be able to show EA, don't bother with ROE or whatever just go straight to EA and show them, and also a screeny of him abusing you, he'd get reset.

There are two seats in the attack helicopter for a damn reason.

If he was wasting his time telling you to get out, then he was not spending much time Commandering, as well as not using the helo.  Two BIG strikes against.

Some l33t players can solo-chopper.  And some of the posters above might be correct, they are better solo (and frantically switching seats) than with Private Nubbin as the gunner.  But we were all Pvt Nubbin once, weren't we?

Solo-choppering probably gets a huge boost from Volcomer's video Duck&Cover.  He is just sick.  But notice the environment he plays in: 16 man size.  And it's a competitive tournament.  I've never been in a tournament, but I imagine that clanVSclan with all on VOIP is pretty intense, and the players are pretty good.  In a tournament situation, if you are as good as Volcomer and can handle the chopper alone, it would be an advantage.  If the other team has two in a chopper, your team now has a man advantage 7vs6, like a hockey powerplay.

But on a pub server, and especially on ANY server than is 32 or 64 man size...solo choppering is a waste, esp on the maps with a carrier.  Volcomer can control the environment because it's all within seeing-eye distance, and there are only three/four flags to watch.  On the bigger maps, the distance is greater, the targets more plentiful, and the cost is higher if you miss/screw up/crash, because its usually a long flight back to the action.

I side with the solo pilot about 80%.

He should have at least given you a chance to be a gunner.  If you are not that good, then he should have the right to ask you to get out or TK you.


I do it all the time.  But I at least give the gunner a chance to prove themselves, if they can't, I will take on the solo job (By asking them to get out or flying them into the out-of-boundary zone).

I have been practicig solo choppering in single player, and im now pretty good at it (good thing about SP, bots listen when you tell them to get out) but i would only use this in a 16 player or possibly a 3/4 full 32 player map. 

Also cool thing to do at daquing oilfields 16 player, when US have the middle flag, land your chopper on the top left oil tower thing with your nose hanging over the side, switch to gunner, and with view distance on 100%, who can rape the chopper spawn and tank spawn with your TV no problems, also AA isnt a problem since your in the gunner seat.
