If you want help, we'll need more diagnostic information.

(1)  Has BF2 ever worked on your computer?  If so, what patch has it been successful with?
(2)  Does your hardware meet the BF2 minimum system specs, particularly the video card?
(3)  Has there been any recent upgrades/changes (HW or SW) to your computer?
(4)  Any other history you can tell us about your BF2 working or not working?

OK,  here's two quick suggestions.

(1)  Typically, whenever someone reinstalls BF2, the configuration files are not deleted ... that is, you still retain your video settings, control settings, etc.  For some reason, these files can become corrupted and cause all sorts of crashes.  The only way to overcome the corruption is to delete them before a reinstall.  This is painful, because it means that you have to redo all your custom controls, but this approach has been successful for quite a number of players.

   -  Uninstall BF2
   -  Delete the configuration files in your Battlefield 2 folder ... in fact, delete the entire folder (you might want to save screenshots in a separate area of your hard disk ... you may also want to save your configuration files in a separate area of your hard disk in case this turns out to not be the problem).
   -  Install BF2 and the FULL 1.3 patch.
   -  You should now have a clean installation.

(2)  There have been a few instances of unwelcome spyware getting on computers and causing communication problems with punkbuster, gamespy, etc.   Since you have not made any changes recently, go into your System Restore application and restore to a point prior to these problems (many computers will have it set up so that periodic System Restore points are automatically generated) ... at a minimum, Microsoft has recently sent out some system updates, and they establish a System Restore point as part of their installation.

Hmmm ... I just noticed you are playing Beta 1.4 ... looks like your problems are resolved.

Great!
