Hello

I'm having problems with BF2 (Just for a change). The problem is it seems to take longer to load up BF2 vanilla maps, l seem to be waiting in the verifying client data screen for almost 5 mins (alot longer than a few weeks ago). I also seem to be suffering from honking lag for alot longer when l finaly get into game.

My computer stats
1gig DDR ram
AMD 3200+
ATI Radeon 9600 series AGP 256mb graphics card.

I've tried all l can think of, like turning off the computer and turning it on again, shaking it and bluff threats involving a tube of toothpaste and a Chesney Hawkes cd.

I'll admit you could just about fill a thimble with my knowladge of computers.

Any ideas, no matter how vague will be of great help.

Not really sure why performance went down, perhaps a disk defrag?

And check to see none of your fans are blocked.

1GB RAM aint much but it's okay, my question: Howmany programs are running in the background?
Try closing programs that you don't need during playtime.

Especially if you are running a firewall of any sort that tends to slow down things even if you have allowed the game access most firewalls will want to scan every incoming package and that will lag you really badly. If you are using broadband try making sure you have the most current drivers for your router. I'm not sure what else would help.

Lag generally isn't caused by a slow computer it is your connection to the internet itself.

I did a Defrag when this problem started. The only other program that some times runs is Teamspeak and l do check Windows task manager when playing, but it only shows said 2 items. l've just checked my fans they seem to be running fine and l can't feel any excess heat coming from anything.

Have you got a trojan or spyware on your system, have you done any scans, I use spybot, pest patrol, spyware doctor, and spyware blaster, because what one misses the others pick up, and what about a good registry cleaner, keeping registry clean can also stop pc's from slowing down, I use registry mechanic for this.

I'd personally try dropping your settings to min and see what effect that has, check your hardware memory with a diagnostic program, also if your mem is 2x512 try swapping the modules round

Then the only thing I can think of that would have changed is new software on your system, either by you putting it there or by more dastardly methods.

my pc isn't quick but it runs it... just (5200 G-force, 2200 AMD Processor...)
