I wish people would use the little bird for inserting troops quickly instead of just gunning.

You could always just fraps yourself, I'm interested to see you own that much in a littlebird.

Making a movie with 1st person view all the time would be kinda boring I guess, plus: I doubt I can play very well while fraps is running, my FPS drop bad.

I think that would be a waste of great vehicle. LB is THE infantry killer (as well as car and chopper killer...in my case sometimes jet killer lol).
What do you think is better?
Having the bird in the air for...
...supressing and completly raping an enemy flag while ground units move in, giving them UAV
...stopping enemy cars and helos from reaching friendly flags
...killing whole squads that try to cap your back flags
...killing enemy infantry while the cobra can concetrate on armor
...killing enemy choppers
...killing lonely enemy snipers
...raping enemy hangars and helipads to keep their airpower down
...finding and neutralizing enemy baserapers in your main
...mowing down enemy infantry as much as possible, causing a noticeably damage to their tickets
...drawing a lot of enemies attention on your little helo, making them use everything they can to get you down, even when it is counterproductive to their team
...making the enemy commanders view pointed on your helipad
...etc etc.

...or for "inserting troops" on some flag that they could easily reach by DPV or just spawning on the nearest flag instead of the mainbase?

I am not gonna quote that all effe, but the little bird is for insertion, and I think that should be the main purpose.

EDIT: once agian eFFe how do you survive in the bird? all the AF maps are littered with AA batteries and mobile AA

I'll try to give some tips, eventhough they won't be in any order:

Learn to fly choppers.
Learn to fly the bird, get a feeling for it, get to know how it behaves.
Learn gunning with the bird, be able to hit your target from any angle at any speed.
Have 2 engineers in your squad to sit in your bird for repairs.
Fly low, use all objects to find cover.
Learn the maps, know in which area of the map you can be locked by which IGLA, if it can't be an IGLA it must be mobile AA. If you get locked, you need to able to tell which IGLA it is and instantly engage it, even from far away. Learn to spray bullets on the IGLA site from very long range (even through trees/bushes), if the crosshair flashes, you hit the target, keep firing right there. Same goes for FAVs, you can see their bullet traces.
Always run and hide from mobile AA. If it's coming closer to your main and looking for you, go somewhere else and rape another flag or their main.
Be aware of what is happening on the map (flags, spotted enemies, UAV, manned stationary weapons) and know which vehicles will mostly likely engage you (f.e. on road rage: if your team has the truck stop, you'll be only threatened by one mobile AA, which means more freedom for you).
Learn to read your UAV to be able to localize and kill any threat below you in a second, meaning after a quick view (1 sec) on your map you have to know behind which object the shown enemy is hiding or firing from to instantly neutralize him.
Take out most dangerous threats to your helo first. Engage IGLA sites and .50cal machineguns as fast as possible. Tanks have .50cals too, so just shoot that gunner!
Always keep moving while engaging enemy attack choppers. Use the mobility of your little helo.
Learn all the spawnpoints on the maps.
Guns overheat after 100 rounds of nonstop firing.

ROFL yes I remember that. lol I could see him floating closer in the distance and though OH CRAP HES COMING and I ran for the IGLA only to get killed. lol. Dang hes good.
