Aside from BF2 software needed to play BF2, what other software, mice, sticks, cards, gadgets, etc... have you bought to improve you're BF2 game? And did it help?
I upgraded my whole rig in order to play the game: mb, ram, cpu, gpu, hdd, psu..
The old rig was good enough to play Pong with

I need around tree fiddy.
I bought a G5, that's it. I'm lucky, I get hand-me-down hardware from a friend who's a technician and likes to keep his machine near the cutting edge so this PC cost me nada: new HD, new video card, new CPU and board plus 2 gigs of spare RAM. A huge improvement in how well the game runs, although the RAM alone in the previous machine made the biggest single difference.
Basically ditto ^^Todd_Angelo wrote:

So far, G5, a logitech headset, and a shelf to get the monitor at the right height.
Rig still sucks ass, new graphics card next.

After I get my paycheck, Im upgrading to a new video card. Not quite sure what kind yet, but its just gonna be a 256. Dont want to go overboard and buy a video card that will fry my power supply (ala` my friend). I need a headset too. If anyone could recommend one that'd be great.
And I bought a Copperhead.

VIDEO CARD MEMORY IS THE LEAST IMPORTANT SPEC. PLEASE DO NOT BUY INTO THE MARKETING CRAP LIKE EVERYONE ELSE DOES.Cursed You wrote:

having ENOUGH ram is one thing. 256 will do for virtually any game, 512 might give you a boost in top-of-the-range games with ultra high settings. Look for Pixel Pipelines, clocks (engine/memory), memory type (DDR, GDDR2/3), Vertex Shaders, and the shader model.

I always check for those. But I check if its gonna work in my computer first. Granted this is the "family" computer and I dont have my own (well I do, but it runs 98. Nuff said). Ive researched into the graphics cards, seeing which one will give a better overall performance, but if its AGP then Im boned.SargeV1.4 wrote:

You can get them cheaper than that I'm sure (mine were £25 from overclockers.co.uk but I couldn't find a direct link). There's a USB version too but USB headphones are notoriously cack and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
Apart from the headphones, a logitech mx518 mouse is the only other thing I've bought (and it was well worth it).
Case, ram, graphics card, mouse, keyboard, joystick, speakers, monitor,....man this game has cost me some money!!
upgraded my graphics to 7900gt with 512mb
and my RAM to 2gb
think i will upgrade my sound to Creative X-Fi Extreme Music and new 5.1 soundsystem
thinking about new, more comfortable headset too
EDIT: maybe the Logitech G11 when its out in Germany
