Which are the best?  I just got a new PC, and I was stupid enough not to check if it had either AGP or PCI-Express slots, which it doesn't.  All I have is normal PCI.  What I'm running now is a Nvidia Geforce 5500 FX, and it's crap.  My PC is a 3.0 GHz P 4HT.  Are there any better on the market, or will I have to get a new motherboard because of my stupid mistake?  Also, companies stopped producing cards for PCI, am I correct?  Thanks for any help.

wow.... you fucked up big time... what kind of pc did you get? i hope you didnt pay over $500 bones for something with that much of an outdated mobo...is it an emachine or something..yikes..

you might as well get a new mobo, however most proprietary pc companies use proprietary mobos and they arent interchangable. you might be uber fucked

Get a new mobo, the best card you can get nowadays thats PCI isn't even worth it. I found this on newegg, and I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for a better card. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814103011

Go get a new PCI-Express mobo that'll work with everything else you got. Then just buy a nice 7900GT and be set.

Yeah, It's a Dell E310.  It runs everything as fast as hell, but without the slots, the best I can use is the 256 MB 5500 card that I put in it.  With that card, BF2 runs smoothly except on levels where there is a bunch of clutter in one area, such as the carrier on Iron Gator, and the hotel on Warlord.  I should say it runs smoothly on low settings.

Thats pretty much the top end, although BFG makes a 5500 overclocked with 256 megs (my kids play BF2 on it, not great, but workable).  You can find them on ebay for next to nothing.

Your best bet though is to gut that system and spend a bit more cash on a system with a PCI-E slot.

I'll be playing as-is for a while.  I just got the system in March.  I can't just up and buy another PC.  Oh well, thanks for the help, guys.

Gut it, as in take out the CPU, HDD's, CD/DVD drives, and maybe even case. Then buy new mobo, new card, and new PSU. Prolly $300-400 depending on which parts.
