Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the beginning of this conflict didn't the Israeli's hit a UN outpost also?  This is the second time, correct?

Seems to me, with all the negative press that Israel MIGHT be trying to keep people from seeing what is happening?

Just a hypothesis...

This is off topic, but how do you feel about assualt weapons such as AR-15's being legal?
Personally, don't understand those who collect guns or join militias or any of all that.  That being said, they are legal - so the design, manufacture and sale of those items is simply a utilization of our capitalistic society.  It is legal, there is a demand - a supply will be created.  I think the IRA is largely comprised of ignorant xenophobes.  That being said, they're the most at risk to be killed or injured by their own weapons.  I frankly don't see the problem.  Yes, that was a generalization.  No, I don't apply that to everyone.

NRA, yes.  However, assualt rifles are manufactured and designed to kill humans.  Should civilians be allowed to carry them?

in my opinion?  No.  I see no point or productive value with the exception of our nation being invaded.  But then, maybe that is the point.

At any rate, I see what you are saying and I think it's safe to say I agree with most of it.  However, I certainly don't feel it is the manufacturer's responsibility.  Even if they weren't legal for civilians, as long as it is legal for military application, it will be manufactured.  The policing of how their product is dealt with by the military is not really their responsibility I feel.

I would blame it on Israel, but to a second degree the government that authorized the weapons aid in the first place, for negligence

all hail MSNBC, the verifier of international incidents.  When it is an AP (associated press) or Reuters report, its virtually unbiased.

If you notice, the report you link to is an AP report.

What's been making Israel go crazy? Their desire to be recognized as a state?
The fact that they can't run safe public transportation without someone blowing up every now and then.

from what i heard on NPR this evening this may have been more than an accident.  prior to the airstrike the  Israelis shelled near the U.N. observer outpost.  The U.N. observers got on the radio and told the Israelis to knock it off.   some time later, israel launched an airstrike which directly hit the outpost.  again, the Israelis were notified by the U.N. of the "accident".  A nearby U.N. outpost sent a rescue party to the site which was then shelled by the israelis.

If israel is trying to isolate themselves from the rest of the world, they're suceeding.

Seems to me that they are trying to send a message to outside influences:

Get the fuck out and stay the fuck out while we conduct our war.

Sometimes I feel they just both blow each other up completely and be done with it.

The statements by the UN were rushed and hasty. For all we know it could have been Hezbollah.

-yeah, because the BBC feed is the most skewed left wing nonsense on the airwaves.  I'm sorry if my news doesn't have to come vacuum wrapped with editorial from Limbaugh, O'Reilly or Franken.

honestly though, what are you gonna expect when you got observers observing in an extremely hot area.  its like sticking your head in a lions mouth and complaining after he takes a yummy bite.

Yes, indeed. Just to clarify, I've outlined the 'extremely hot areas'.

I say anyone inside this area is just asking for a good Israeli bombing.

put yourself in the shoes of an Israeli soldier, or commander for that matter.  In this case you are trying to win a war, not hearts and minds.  I hate the idea of civilians being hurt, I hate it!  I dont know what I could say without sounding like a heartless bastard but to make an omelette.....
