What attracts you to a server?

The title says it all. My clan has been having some trouble with getting the server popular so I thought, hey why not ask the biggest bf2 community?

Is is maps, slots, admins, pings or something else?

Could you suggest your favorite map rotation that you have?

Please help I am in desperate need to get the server popular

Since we have made it 24/7 karkand our server has gone through the roof, another one is 24/7 city maps.

Well, you have to have a server that is always full or has people in it. Eventually people will realize that this server always has players so more people will add it to their favourites and recommend it. Another way is to offer something people cannot find like a 24/7 Songhua Stalemate or Zetar Wetlands.

Unfortunately for your clan, what usually attracts me to a server (besides low ping) is a good number of people already in it...
What I can tell you is what keeps me out of a server. I hate the 24/7 [whatever] servers.. I like to play all the maps not Karkand or Wake or Sharqi etc over and over and over and over... So I would suggest a large assortment of maps in rotation.

If you want to get your server popular its simple. Eather:
1) Make it a karkand-only server
2) Make it a city map server containing Karkand, Mashtuur, and/or Sharqi
If you do one of these, make sure you'll change the server name to: "24/7 karkand or 24/7 city maps only" followed by your clan's name.
This will most likely attract a shitload of people to your server.

DON'T EVER ADD OPEN MAPS LIKE KUBRA DAM OR SONGUA STALEMATE. Most of the masses don't like them (neither do I).

Also, if the server stays empty, make sure you and some of your clanmates stay in the server until it fills up. When there are enough players in te game to start the round, the server will fill up in no time and it's set to keep filled until the end of the day, or even longer.
Do this continually, day after day. Your server will get popular and soon enough you'll have enough regulars in your server to fill it up automatically.

We received a server from some guys joining our clan. They wanted to join our clan, and we received their server. It has never been popular, but we as a clan made it a 24/7 karkand server and right now, it's in the top 10 of the i3d.nl server list. The server is filled most time of the day now.
The only bad thing is that karkand attracts many noobs, but hell, at least the server is full.

No lame rules- uhhhh they are alright

yeah, I am completely tired of playing karkand, so a 24/7 karkand server won't really be bring me in. I prefer map size at 32 or 64 and I have more fun when there are more people on the server. I love playing the maps that aren't played very often, but it is really hard to find a good server running them. I can gaurantee you that if your server is similar to this and I get a good ping I'll be there.

The only thing I look for when finding a server is the "friendly fire" mode. I will not play on a server with FF turned off> If FF is off, all you get is planes dropping bombs all over you while arty is falling, not fun. Other than the FF, I just look for a server playing maps I like.

one thing that turns me off of servers is when there is a bunch of people from that clan on there. 9 times out of 10 i will be kicked or banned for vehicle whoring, i try to get the servers that look like no admins are on

If you just want a full server make a 24/7 Kark. (yawn) Latley it seems almost all the 24/7 Kark's are K+P servers.

Large maps 32 player max is what I look for. When it gets too crowded (50-60ppl) only the hackers get good scores.

When I see a clan server, if all the clan members are on one side I don't join. If the clan is balanced to both sides I will join. For some reason this indicates to me that it will be more fun.

Dragon, Kubra, Dalian, Clean sweep are good maps. Songua and Zatar suck. Wake, Fush, Oman is ok. (just my opinion)

It also would be nice to see a rotation of only PLA theater maps, time as PLA for the medal takes effort. USMC and MEC are easy because of Kark, Sharq, and Oman.

I also keep looking for a Small 16 player Road Rage and there is never one active. I want to try the muscle car and suburban fighting.

One more thing. No autobalance so my friends and I can get the same team easier.

Limited/Specialized Map rotation
32 or 64 player maps
32-40 slots

ANy more than 40 players and You tend to get a lot of complaints from folks thathave crappy computers.. Plus it gets too hectic sometimes....

I like servers that limit the maps... Servers that go from Karkand to Kubra tend to lose a LOT of people at the switch... Killing the server... THis happens with almost any Ground Pounder or Air map switch or visa-versa..... SOmetimes I like to play ground.. SOmetimes AIr... If I'm in a Infantry mood and the map switches to AIr.. I'll bail from the server.....

I like a mix of 32 and 64 player maps as well... 64 player maps can get pretty boring if there are only 15-20 people on.... If you start the server up with a 32 map going, then switch to 64 once the server fills up, thats the best scenario.

Ive probably been on 10 servers since the game came out, ie I frequent the same ones, I belive if it isnt broke dont try and fix it. The servers I go dont have silly rules, same people play there so you have regular squads. Those are reasons to name a few.
