Whenever I get into any server, within seconds the entire game freezes. The only way I can get out of this is by forcing it to end using task manager. But when I do this, the whole computer starts skipping. When I restart the computer, it is back to normal, until I enter bf2 again. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do?
How much RAM do you have? Processor speed? Did this just start happenning?

I just noticed it yesterday, but I hadn't played for a week. I have an AMD Athlon XP 3200 2.20 ghz, 1gig ram, and 256 on board video memory.

If it just started yesterday, what did you change in the last week? Does this happen to every server you join? Can you play single player? Are you having any other computer problems?

I hadn't changed anything in the last week, but apparently others are having problems from a pb patch on the 24th.
Its punkbuster and if you manually update it it should work for you, I did and I am back in the hunt. Good luck.
Well I did an update to my punkbuster and no problems now. Thanks captain_itchy_pants!!! For others having the same problem should give this fix a try. I used the following link to update punkbuster and so far no more crashes. http://www.punkbuster.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php

Ha damn i have no pic of my desktop as my graphic card had a Heating-Error... now i have a lot coolers that the game dont shut down (or pc) again
