That image is borderline... Whether it is or not, it is easy to take it as an offense and is unwise to use it in a situation where you don't want to offend somebody.

In this situation, it has nothing to do with protesting for the rights (or lack thereof) of illegal aliens and was posted under a different purpose and that was to make a joke at his name "Dirt Mexican" which also could be easily taken as a racist joke and something to be offended by.

Judging by the response, DM took offense to it and defended himself by calling you a racist.

We are now back at the topic of "racism" that I don't think we're going to escape and the image is no refuge.

Now that I've ridden a short fucking essay, I would hope that this could get back on topic but now it seems to have beent lost in the OPs sexual orientation which has no place in this forum.
