(I did search, but the keywords I used returned either too many or too few hits... if the question is already covered please point me there.)

I had a great game a little while back. I was in the gunnery seat of an F15 in the Daqic Oilfields. While the pilot didn't say much, once he noticed that I'd figured-out how to control the laser guided missiles he basically just flew up and down so that I could take out tanks and other hard targets. To the extent that he didn't bother bombing, just did the Air-to-Air stuff and then resumed the rollercoaster; presumably he liked flying and didn't mind kill assists.

In the middle of this I get awarded my basic aviator badge (yay!). This is quite an achievement for me because usually the aussie servers are clogged with good pilots and for a n00b like me to grab a plane with them around would be like telling the team I hate them and want them to lose.

ANYWAY, I should be getting to the sodding point... while the time in the F15 showed-up on my stats and got me my bronze badge, the kills I got as weapons officer in the F15 never showed on my stats under "aviator".

Any idea what they might have gone under? I'm sure I got the kills globally, just not specifically for aviator. Could they have gone under armour?

Slightly off topic, but still related. How do you control the missiles from a bomber? Is it the same as the TV gunner in the helos?

nope, just wait for the buzzing and shoot, they do all the work. very easy points if you have a co-operative pilot.

Nope, fire and forget after LOCK. If there are more targets just fire more missiles, they may hit all sometimes.

Then why the hell are you flying a two seater hop in the single seater. A good pilot and co-pilot can do serious damage to the ground targets and Im sure your teams infantary appreciate that. But most pilots seem not to care about the team winning and just about their own points.
And what about mobile AA that you have missed but your co pilot takes out for you ? im sure you appreciate that

they dont always hit what your locked on, and so i use the laser guided feature alot of the time (just like SRAW/Eryx) its a little harder as your traveling at 600+ (mph/kph (not really sure)). You can take out other planes, helis commander assets etc if you have a good pilot. Aswell as locks on armour and ground transport and then just randomly hit flag areas with the missiles and your likely to get an infantry kill or 2 from splash dmg.

As answering the original question i have no idea, i really thought they went to aviator kills, but if they dont... im a much better pilot then i thought

Don't sweat it. If you take a look at Bobs' stats, the most telling thing is 800 hours total with 580 hours as Lone Wolf. Shouldn't surprise you that he doesn't look favourably on cooperative play. I think he may be what I've heard refer to as a "smurf".

And it doesn't get me closer to an answer for my question!

What can i say, a dead squad leader is not one at all.

Did you get your badge? If you did you got the kills. Maybe you forgot how many kills you had before then looked after and thought you didn't get the kills.

No, it's quite different to the TV-guided missiles. Keep your view forward with the nose of the aircraft at the top of the display. When pointed at the ground targets in the PDR beam get highlighted with little boxes. Pop the crosshair on and wait until your character says "I've got a lock". Then fire. For best results keep the crosshair on the target until the missile strikes. You can also just fire and keep the crosshair on a particular point.

The laser guided bomb kills definitely go under aviator. If they're missing then something has gone horribly wrong.

True, but people like him make me smile when i see them down my sniper scope... probably explains why all his infantry stats suck balls and he sticks to the planes..... mind you, I bet he rarely sees the inside of a bomber.. whats the betting his fav jet is a j10 and most played maps are wake and karkand?

Uhh ok, I'll vs you on infantry any day. OK my infantry stats suck, but my assault KDR is improving. Here is my second account to show you how i play on foot.

Idiot.  The 2nd guy in the bomber can make it a very fomidable weapon in the hands of a good team.  Even more so when the 3rd guy in the fighter is covering the bomber's 6 so all they have to do if find and kill targets.  I love being the gunner for guys who understand that the LMG guy is very important to the team.  On Kubra he can really help save the day with the missles if the MEC lose the airfield, until they can retake it.

To the OP, I'm pretty sure they went under aviator kills.  If you played more than one round before checking your stats you might not have noticed.  In your case it certainly looks like that aren't there.  Did you leave the game early or did the server crash?  From your OP it doesn't look like either is the case.

There's a tactic called "Aces High and Jokers Wild". Basically using unleashed special forces on the ground to call airstrikes from planes tasked to them. In BF2 terms I think you could do it with a sniper as Squad Leader and an aviator as a member, then use the "Attack here" function through the sniper scope to direct the pilot to target rich areas. I'm keen to try it out and see how it goes.

Good point - however it was only the basic badge, so it didn't need kills, just 10 minutes in a round - and like I said I don't mess with the planes if there are better pilots around which is why it was quite an achievement for me. I checked over the next couple of days and while the badge and time showed-up the kills didn't. The ones I have are from an F35B a few days later at Oman and Dalian.

I never claim to be good. My stats over the last 50 hours have my SPM at about 0.91 and KDR at something like 0.74. Meh. Just numbers.

BF2 is the first FPS in a very long time that I thought worth playing. I don't play FPS much.

Castle Wolfenstein, Mechwarrior, Doom, System Shock, Quake, Shogo MAD, Rainbow 6... thats all the FPS games I've played before. In order. And when they were new. I played Quake deathmatch but BF2 is the only game I've played online.

You could just as easily say "200 hours played and only negative ratios, best round 83, and no gold medal?? I'm surprised you are still playing "

What can I say, I play for fun. I laugh when my dead body hits the UAV on the way down after an arty strike.

yeah. on ceansweap when the mec bases have been taken i can still solo the mec-bomber with the missles (you should all try that, especially in pre 1.3 when the aa doesnt lock on to you if you are in gunner, but it does tend to piss preople off and you with get all those haxor, gay, fucker threats we all love)

My sniper only infantry account 4+ KDR on Karkand as im sure your aware is often considered a hard one to snipe on.... stick to the air mate... from your stats your WAY safer up there...

I think most of you are missing the point. The laser guided bombs take like no skill to use period. The pilot should get the kills since he is the one doing all the hard shit.
