It doesn't even work correctly for me. The editor does, but the little 3d animator thing it comes with doesn't work, so I can't custom make things.
you need other prgrams to MAKE things, like building s and that.
3ds max, maya or others make stuff. the editor just edits things for bf2, impots things to be put into bf2 and creates maps.

Can you use preexisting stuff for new maps? Like buildings and such that are being used in BF2 right now? I want to get into this map editing a bit, but I don't know how to use maya or anything like that and I'd like to just take buildings that are there already and impliment them.

Where can I get this map editor??
lol its easy to use... First make sure you got the up-to-date version then check out the EA tutorials then check out BF2 editing forums if you still cant do stuff. There are quite a few comon problems like forgetting to pack the map before you test it and then you dont know why it still wont load.
