I don't know if this is happening to anyone else, but bf2:sf is destroying my kill:death ratio.  It's not because of the new weapons, or the new maps.. I find a lot of it has to do with base raping.  Most of the servers I played on last night were over and done with within 10 minutes.  One team would capture all the flags and proceed to enter our uncappable base and blow the living -shit- out of us.
Hopefully, as more servers update, we'll have less crappy issues like this

You can't use the same style of play you did in BF2.  BF2 is more a run and gun type of play.  From playing lastnight, I found that you really need to incorporate stealth and tactical combat into your game.  I also noticed the way the maps and flags are layed out, it really incourages defending flags once you've capped them.  I was racking up points lastnight defending flags in Ghost town.  I finished with 86 points.   3 points for the kill in stead of the 2!

Yeah, most of the rounds I played were over in 5-10 minutes.  I got the gold star probably 4 times in a row with scores in the 35-45 point range.

One of the few positives I've found with this expansion is that guys like me (players that stick to mostly infantry combat in BF2) have a slight edge in SF.  The tanks and choppers seem to be few and far between, and they never lasted long, at least not on the server I was playing on.  So I guess if you're used to piloting choppers and jet or driving tanks... you better brush up on your infantry combat skills.

Randomly flaming someone like that again without adding anything useful to the thread will get you abolished.  I will make it my duty to make your whole bf2 experiance hell.  Stop it.
I thought this forum was free of uneducated insolence.

how true.  I've actually found myself playing more sniper and support classes since SF.  No more medic/engineer which I usually play.

YES.  I like how it's all about infantry and squad combat.  I was wishing for more city maps in bf2, but bf2:sf has quenced my thirst for team/infantry based gaming.

Did you bother to look at my other stats?
~50 hours support, 85 hours medic, 50 hours sniper and 350 hours total... That's a minor 22% of my time spent in armour.  I've had it up to here with people making alligations about peoples stats.

I am thinking of buying the game, and was wondering where you can download it from the EA site does it just integrate and update your original BF2 game or is it like most other Expansion Packs and is completely seperate. Just wondering since all the stats are integrated as well

Ok i think its a BIG draw back because now there is now where to hide when snipers can get anywhere. Also yes i agree the maps dont last long at all and all people do is base rape. But i think they did a pretty good job in making new medals as well i got 2 Basic Sniper and Engineer specialist there not all that kool looking tho.

Well in my opinion i HATE this Expansion i think it was a waste of my $30 bucks.

JUST MY OPINION!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it is. I think there's a memory leak or something because i'm getting lag when i play like many other people. I was doing 1:1 myself for a bit but then i tried some smaller sized map servers. Not so much of a mad rush as 32/64 player maps.

But i do have to add this about 32/64 player SF maps: it's a statpadders dream come true. The fighting is so close quarter and there's so many people rushing about all you have to do is keep dropping ammo/med packs and you'll easily make 60-70+ pts per round without ever shooting anyone.

Teamwork pts to be had everywhere.

I havent got SF yet, but if it stops the llamas in vehicles owning with their mediocre skills then im all for it - its about time the game was based on squads not on a few individuals in vehicles.

Oh, and I love the thought that snipers can go EVERYWHERE!!!!

Stop it with the whore accusations! Your posts are useless to this entire forum community.

I agree that SF definately gives infantry a better footing against vehicles, but that doesn't mean that vehicles can't support an infantry offensive or defensive (which is how I usually used armor in BF2 anyways). If you stick with a group of infantry, you don't fall as easily.

Teamwork points whoring? Maybe for now because nobody knows the maps and doesn't attack properly - hiding as soon as they take damage from an unseen opponent. Maybe this is my chance to get expert medic . I played that carrier assault level (whatever its name is) and my team never lost a single flag on the ship. Few from my team attempted to attack the island, so we sat on the carrier and shot down waves of boats and n00bs used thier flashbangs on teammates (i dislike them here as much if not more than in CS:S).

I can't say that I performed too well last night, but it took me a few rounds online to figure out that the lag I was getting wasn't from the servers I was playing on, it was just that the update changed my graphics settings to high everything (I play with dynamic lighting on medium for my "weak" 6800 GT to perform better - all else on high). Used an offline map to let my graphics re-optimize and didn't go back online for the remainder of the night.

Thus my suggestion to Jester.retseJ is to double check his graphics setting, and lower stuff like dynamic lighting to medium (one at a time) until performance goes back to a playable framerate.

If you guys get in trouble in multiplayer, go onto single player and poke around the maps a little, it always help to scout around a little first so you have the advantage over other players.

haha, I was seriously JUST about to post the SAME topic title when I read this...

My play last night was characterized by three things...

1) unplayable lag (which sucks because I've never had lag issues with this game). Though I will say when I started playing smaller servers and not the 64 player servers it was better
2) INSTANT, and I mean instant deaths... I spent half the night respawning I swear to god. I don't know if it was base rapping or what but half the time I was dead withing 3 seconds of spawning, it was crazy
3) The longest loading and verifying times ever, I even got kicked 3 times for idling while verifying client data

On a positive side, I like how well they integrated the expansion into the regular game. Nice job. Its funny if you look at my little chart on this site for SPM and K/D you'll see a stead climb over the last few weeks then a sudden FALL... haha, thats SF last night.  Oh, and you can also see I'm not a vehicle heavy player at all.

I would agree with the guy who said look around on the maps though, especially the night ones. Part of my problem was that when I was alive long enough to move my legs a little, I was wandering around lost.

Very well put Mr. Gilgalad .   I too hate the flash bangs.   F.B.s do not -blind-you will white wash like in the game.   It's more like the teargas effect.   FBS hurt like shit .. you hew the high pitched wine and you head hurts like the day after a bachelors party.   the least they could do is Shorter the blind time.

wow, nice infantry stats...almost 3:1 k/d with a weapon in your hands!  imo anything above 1.5 k/d with infantry is awesome.

Rakasan - your small-arms accuracy is pretty awesome. Your kills with carbines rock. How it comes - are you a professional gamer or did you get your small-arms skills with playing other games, like CS etc.?

to all vehicle whores out there, including me *gg*, two days ago i found a nice interview u should read. btw i found it somewhere here, but don't know where exact. the point lars gustavsson makes, in this interview, is to take away the focus from the vehicles more to the foot work. developing battlefield 1942 was about vehicles, and how much fun it is to whore around, with bf2 they wanted to bring up more teamplay, but u still can go for a little rampage with ur jet. now there might be a split, special forces for infantry whores, bf2 standard for vehicle whores. that's my opinion after reading most threads, and reading this interview, maybe i'll change, after getting first impressions on the expansion pack. (two more hours to go )
