Last night, I was unfortunent enough to be in two separate servers with two different hacks being used. In the first, an Aimbot was allowing a helo pilot to hit everything in sight (And things that weren't). In the second, vehicles rained down everywhere in massive numbers.

If you look on Youtube or elsewhere, you can easily see jackasses showing off their cheats and bragging about the fact that nobody can stop them. Since there is little chance of all cheaters being identified, much less caught, does this mean that Battlefield will cease to be a place for legitimate gamers to play?

No.
Your first encounter was most likely a chopper pilot who knew what he was doing (read: he owned your fucking ass).
Your second encounter is something that occurs sometimes. Yes it is a cheat. But it's not whide-spread since it doesn't occur much.
So sleep well tonight, no need to have nightmares of bf2 becoming a cheater game. You're just a noob that's all.

I have heard of the cartillary thing, but aimbots I have not run into. I haven't had one instance where I've thought of quitting because I suspect cheating.

So I vote No. BF2 lives on......(now that I don't seem to have the DC issue any longer)

No.

The funny thing about hacks is, I have seen numerous accusations about using them, but in my 550+ hours of playing this game, I have never actually witnessed one person using a hack.  I mean, I have thought some wierd things when people kill me, but when it comes down to it, no hacks.  Seriously, with the amount of stats tracking going on with this game, anyone regularly using a hack would be found out pretty quick.

Obviously, you haven't been keeping up with current events. Many people reported widespread cartillery storms. One Youtuber has a video showing his cheat in action.

As for the helo pilot, no. I have been owned by helos before, but this was something completely different. Hitting a target with the first rocket from outside visual range isn't possible when repeated every single time. It was obvious that not only could he lock onto a solitary person from anywhere, it was obvious that he could see that target from anywhere as well.

Try not to be a complete dick next time you post, kid.

I've actually seen two people, they were in the same game.  They made seperate accounts to hack, and were glitching through Karkand like mad.  It was actually pretty entertaining.  No one could sneak up on them.

They were both banned.

Thats 2 out of 230 hours of playtime.

hacking is not glitching.  A glitch is an exploit.  A hack is a modification to the games code.  There is a difference.

I'll tell you a little secret about heli piloting. It's about firing TV guided missles without seeing the enemy. Therefore killing him, leaving him thinking: 'WTF hack', creating an account on bf2s.com and creating a topic like this.
Sorry, I have no respect for that.
And about the cartillery storms, I've never seen one in my entire bf2 career. As you can see I've been playing a fucking long time so I guess you can't say I've not been keeping up with current events.
It happens sometimes, and when it happens, you'll not have to think bf2 will die because of that.
Play more, get better, whine less, it'll make you feel good.

See if you had been less of a jackass, you wouldn't have ASSUMED it was a TV bomb. It wasn't. Every 1st rocket was right on target from anywhere and any range. Once, I was even down behind a wall, so I know there was no way to see me, and the first rocket was right on target.

It is easy to call someone a whiner until it happens to you. Then you just have to suck it up, grow the fuck up and admit someone is cheating. What parasites like you fail to realize is that cheaters make it worse for everyone. They cheat, DICE rushes out another flop of an update to correct the issue, and we all get a whole new round of bugs to deal with.

I always hear about these servers but never see any IPs posted.

If you read the forums, quite a few people saw rampant cartillery on more than one server. It has nothing to do with the server itself, and everything to do with whoever was on the server using the hack. Here is a link showing off the hack.

If you watch the clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uc6TT3zy4og) you will see that the hacker retained commander status after resigning. He is able to rain down vehicles, supplies or even UAVs.

I understand that.

They were able to see and shoot through the hills, even when we used voip to have people come in from each side (no there was no UAV, we checked).

They also were glitching up to the hills, and appearing almost instantly when they died.

Heres a PID.

Its simple, very simple. Its how every game works. EA have 2142 coming soon, the predecessor so a few months before 2142 come out EA starts letting hackers get away with hacking, thus making BF2 un-playable forcing people to buy the new Battlefield game.

maybe you dont seem to understand how to use the tv missles? I would love to see your stats in order to see exactly how much time you have in a chopper, as to see how well you can understand the issue. fight with a great TV gunner like freezingdonkeyboy to see how it is done properly. I have never seen a hack for the tv missles, just pure skill. Im not too good with them, 98% of my chopper time is piloting, i simply line the guy up. but they are out there.... as far as the commander hack... old old news and one they will hopefully deal with soon. if not, i have rarely seen it used so it's not as common as everyone is hyping it up to be.

No.

hacking accusers are only people who cant stand getting owned numerous times,  so they call the guy that owned them a hacker to make themselves feel better knowing that the only reason they died is that they got killed by a cheater (which in their mind makes them still feel a good player when really they're not...they just got owned...)

Or people realize that EA and DICE couldn't give a fuck about the community and decide to get QW:ET, Crysis, maybe CS:S or AA.

Jerkwad you're probably wrong about the chopper thing, but I know for a fact that the car storms have been getting a helluva lot more rampant. Last night I joined 3 separate server and in every one of them it happened. But I can say that this is not really enough for me to stop playing because I have only really seen it more than once on Wake.

i was the same untill i saw a command hack being used. admittedly i did play for about 640 hrs before i saw it. the guys name was CMD.HACK to. basicly he could take command whenever he wanted and use almost non-stop artillery.

I started a round of Karkand yesterday, spawned on the rh side of the map and noticed one of my team parachuting down onto the top of the building in front of me - how the hell did he do that ?
