Doing that is just stupid as already said. The best was if to "Kiss the ground" which means open your chute right before you hit the ground, so you do get picked off with ease.

Once I had to bail from a flaming Blackhawk over Kubra Dam... I saw that the flag at the construction site needed capping, hit the ripcord and steered on over. I was too high when I passed over the building and just as I went to flare back the landing I realise my accuracy was spot on: I hit the top of the flagpole, my chute collapsed and I fell to the roof. By the time I recovered enough to figure out what had happened the flag was already neutralised.

i do a LALO jump. low altitude low opening halo jumping is the best strategy in battlefield 2

If i have intentionally bailed (not due to being shot down) Im usually aiming for an enemy vehicle so I dont hit my chute at all...just hit me "e" key as i get close the the target vehicle.
It's stupid spending more time than you have to in a dumb parachute, only times I use HAHO is when I'm base-jumping and trying to gain some advance in terrain while flying (Kubra ftw!), when I bail out of something I always press 9 10cm of the ground.
I HALO most of the time, sometimes I HAHO when I need to drift a long distance (e.g. the Black Hawk I'm in is 300ft up and a quarter way across the map from the outpost I want to be in...and the pilot's AFK in a hover)
Yeh. I HALO jump all the time...usually open up about 1-2m from the floor but i occassionally lag and die. But yeh its so much fun going HAHO hunting coz they're just sitting ducks. Its even funnier watching their lifeless bodies drit into trees or the sea in wake - almost a minute of hilarity while they 'fall'

Closest I've came to a HALO jump was an exit at 20,000 feet and deployment at 1,800. I'll never forget that one...
