I just recently .. like saturday went and upgraded my computer . Got the Asus A8V-SLI mobo, an amd64 3500+ and a BFG 7800GT PCI-E. So I'm thinkin now... XP x32 or XP x64. I Found about 80%of the drivers I need for my computer already but wasn't sure if anyone had tried to install it already on XP x64 and if it works or not. Oh and by the way.. off topic but it has to do w/ my new installation... for some reason now my new logitech g5 mouse just randomly freezes in XP for about 10 seconds than comes back... like I can't move the cursor... or adjust the sensitivity... its like the mouse just goes to sleep for 10 seconds than comes back.

- Anyone tried installing BF2 on Windows XP x64
bro - have no worries. I installed the game on Win-xp 64 4 months ago, and its working AS SMOOTH AS SILK.
with your lean, mean, gpu machine (be sure to download the latest 64bit gpu driver - 81.94 http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1257 ) you will be able to run the game on 1600X1200X4AA with about 55-79 FPS. That's how I run mine ;-)
install it. dont worry, it works fine.
'bout the mouse.. thats a silly solution but hey ! sometimes we ALL forget those lil' things.. : have you checked the batteries of the mouse ? Your symptoms fits perfectly to this ill. The batteries are empty, and working without power. When the mouse "freezes" - it seems like the batteries are charging to squize in another few minutes of usage..

And I bet no one of you has a legal copy of Win XP Pro 64bit!!!!

Yea Actually I just ordered my copy off of MSDN.. I get it for a student price of 11.99 beat that..
My one is legaly copied (and for free), cause I work at Microsoft
BEAT THIS!!!
BEAT THIS!!!
And you are in Germany?
I have a friend that works at Microsoft and two others that work at Intel, but sadly not AMD.
AMD ROCKS!

I agree, AMD is the best! My server even uses AMD (Dual Opteron, rockz the house!). The Intel server CPUs cost way too much and aren't designed for gaming and stuff...
Yes I work in germany (Munich). The Microsoft Campus there is really cool!
Are your friends, wich work at Intel, located in Munich, too (thought, they have an office there).
Wow, just finished the new BF2 Patch without any problems!

because vista conveniently prevents you from doing pretty much anything illegal, and if it doesn't stop you it tells microsoft, not that anyone here would do anything illegal, it's just it might think legal things are illegal, yes that'll do it
trust me, my friend went through the beta and he doesn't like it one bit
except for the cool mac OS style conveniently organised things

but isnt it true that windows xp can only handle 1g of cache where as vista can handle upto 8 or something
