The title explains the whole prob. I'm unable to connect to the account server - no matter how long I wait. I'm connected to the internet, my firewall is working properly. So wtf is up?

Try adding this onto the end of your target command line
+playerName YOURACCOUNTNAMEHERE +playerPassword YOURPASSWORDHERE
The "Target: ..." field should then read:
"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +playerName XXXXXXXXX +playerPassword YYYYYYYYY
(XXXX= Your ingame account, YYYY= Your ingame password)

I know that trick.. and that's usually how I log in. It certainly doesn't help in this case.. because instead of the game loading up to the log in screen.. all it does is give me a black screen.
If all else fails, re-install?
