Hi guys, new to the forum and this is the first post so go easy on the newbie.

Just done the regular virus check and Norton detected this:

The file C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2
\Redist\ArcadeInstallBATTLEFIELD2_20.EXE is a Adware threat.

I did run Spybot before Norton and it came up good,
now I try to run a clean computer, ie no dodgy downloads etc and this has really thrown me.

Anyone seen this before or throw any light on the matter?

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

skip those in your scans if you remove them you wont be able to join any games as it will appear that you've modified your game.

Okay cheers guys,

Just got paraniod, as it has never showed up for the countless other scans, although did do the live up thing prior to the scan so probably changed some settings.

Got my mate to scan his comp and it came up with the same thing.

Can relax and start playing again, although can't wait till the 28th.

I had the same scan information waiting for me when I got home today.  It also identified files in Roger Wilco (another Gamespy product) and even an old file in BF1942.  I can only assume Norton definitions now apply to these files.

I had initially feared some sort of evil bundle with the latest BF2 patch, but all the files pre-date the patch significantly so it would appear to be nothing untoward.

I chose to exclude for the time being.  Anyone want to delete their's and tell me if there are any issues?

Hi Ronball9, I got a second mate to check his game files and he also found it and deleted it with apparently no problems.

But personally going to leave alone and just skip during virus scans as Section9 suggested seeing as they are legitimate anyway.
