I have heard people saying that good mouses are required to own but i beg to differ. I was using a ball mouse when i first started BF2 and i could kick much ass as much as i do today.

I have a shit mouse so it lags and stutters.Makes flying hard.

So a decent working mouse is required.

A good player is a good player doesnt matter what type of mouse he/she uses.

Decent is required, but past that I think it is gaming comfort.

That really depends on how bad the mouse is. If you have on of these laggy ones you get a bit retarded. But in any other case it more about being used to your mouse.

Had a MS trakball with 5 buttons, very useful (go prone, reload, etc.) Then it took a dump on me. No longer made, closest thing I could get is a logitec 3 button, not so good......*sigh*

But back to the point, it's what you get used to.

You're quite right but especially when you are part of the mass and your skills are just average, the better equipment (in all aspects) will give you an big advantage.

I think a good mouse helps, but as said above depends on the player anyway

I like my mouse because of the programable buttons, which, not nessicarially make my better, just faster puttling out weapons.  I have the Logitech G5 (as alot of you do) and the thumb button is my pistol, middle click is my six weapon (shock paddels, wrench) and rock the wheel right is my main weapon.

Good hardware helps, plain and simple. Even a world-beating player would have a disadvantage playing on some crappy, sticky, ball-driven mouse, but, underneath it he'd still be a kickass player so he'd totally outperform a lot of mediocre players using better hardware.

Having a better mouse will not make you killer. But i helps to have a good optical mouse with good feet and a large smooth, trackable surface. It really helps in flying and with sweeping with aa and tank turrets.

I have a standard mouse with a ball and a rollerball. Fills up with dirt and shit, so I clean it out about once a week to keep it running smoothly. I experience no problems with it.

putting a ferrari engine in a toyota doesnt make it a ferrari.

having a good mouse wont increase your skill if there is no skill there.

ive had thousands of "aimbot" complaints, and ive been using a HP optical mouse.

Just look at any other sport/hobby/profession....there's always equipment that's a bit more sophisticated than the standard.
Real pros don't really need it to be good but when you are up against other pros you want to be sure that the hardware does not limit your physical abilities.

So a nice lasermouse like the Razer Copperhead or the Logitech G5 can help,if you got the skill already.
But great equipment won't make a good player out of a bad shot either.

Back when I started BF2 I had a standard Logitech optical mouse then graduated to a wireless laser mouse.  Neither were very good but I could get scores of 1.5/1 as inf easily.  Now with my G5 I can get crazy K/D ratios if I don't go rambo into a bunch of guys.

I have the two button MS clunker. I still have to look at the keyboard hit F2 so I'm sure that has costed me a few kills/excess deaths.

I'm satisfied with my shitty logitech optical mouse, but it is occasionally a bitch when flying

I have this rather average Dell optical mouse. Its no G5, but it works. I've configured my controls to make it ideal for me.

So I don't believe that you necessiaraly have to have a good mouse to compete. But if you can't get it to your liking (I was lucky that I could), a higher quality mouse will help you out.

Going from an HP oem optical to a Razer Diamondback didn't make a significant difference for me EXCEPT for using vehicles.  For whatever reason I can swivel a turret so much smoother and quicker with the Razer.  Maybe it's the teflon pads.

My 25 doller mouse is plenty for me. In CSS i play at 20 sensitivity and all the other games have pretty high sensitivity including bf2. You get used to extremely high sensitivity and it substitutes for those quality gaming mice.

I have a razer diamond back. The on-the-fly sensitivity feature is useful for when i want to swtich between ground pounding and operating veichles at high sensivity and sniping at low sensitivity. It definatley is helpful but i wouldnt go as far to say that its a strong advantage or makes you a better player.
