So I have a Dell XPS 400 Dual Core 2.8ghz, 2gb RAM, 375w Power Supply. Everything was fine playing with my junky geforce 7300 LE card until I see what the real game looks like with a better card. I decide to upgrade my video card and tried an ATI X1900 first and it ran waaaay too hot and was skipping (only while walking)...everything else was fine. I was thinking, maybe the card is getting too hot and my 375w power supply isnt enough. I returned it and got a geforce 7900GT OC. This did the exact same thing...graphics are great but the skipping is killing me (ONLY WHILE WALKING).

What am I to do next? I installed the latest drivers, I removed the old video drivers before installing the new card, I used a driver removal tool...nothing. I tried dropping settings to the lowest settings to see if the card couldnt handle it...still skips. The weird thing is when I put my old 7300LE card in...it does it now too???

Any ideas?

Also, how can I verify I have the latest patch? When Im in BF2, I see some #'s on the top right. It still shows 1.1.xxxx...I installed what I thought was 1.3...should it show on the top right as 1.3.xxxxx?

Thanks for the help all...

Yes, uninstalled the old ones before installing the new card. I also dropped down the graphics...I ran my junk 7300 LE on High and it was fine...for some reason, everything changed as far as performace when I installed the ATI X1900...thought it was the card, so I bought a 7900GT OC, which is what I will be sticking with until this issue is resolved.

I reinstalled the game...no luck.

When walking...it doesnt really skip its more of...when you walk and look at the gun...its stutters like the gun is moving too rapidly for a walk - its like a strobe light is on the gun and moves too fast and choppy. When i pan left and right just to look around, it doesnt skip or stutter...just on the walk. When running, everything is all smooth. WEIRD.

i would try a larger power supply with the larger video card it needs more power 375 is a little low get a 500w, i see on the nividia the 7900gt needs a min of 350 watts but if u have a sound card or upgraded your ram you will lose some of that wattage i definately think its a power issue

I was thinking that...I just figured the Dell PSU reviews said it had a PCIE Ready Power Cord thing...I guess that doesnt mean it can power it though...

Thanks...Im actually giving it a try and getting an Enermax Liberty 500w or 620w.
