OK i did a quick search for any threads on how to use shotguns and none came up so if i missed one dont flame me. I've tried all day to get my basic engineer badge, and i got it only for the server to crash. hurray! The next 4 hours trying to get it again didnt happen, mainly because i could not get kills with the damn shottie. Yes i use grenades but those only get you so many kills. Yes i used AT mines but i die and they dissapear before someone runs over them. So how i use shotguns. I was on karkland the whole time cause im assuming the alleyways are perfect for shotguns. WRONG I WAS! Be it lag, hacks, divine intervention, i only got 4 kills in those 4 hours with shotguns. First thing i realized is that even though the damn enemy is right there in your face, my MEC auto shottie missed all 7 rounds! I mean come on! Other times i get like 4 registered hits and they STILL dont die. I mean wtf is wrong with me (or the game). The 4 kills i did get with shotguns were absolutly bs. 1 was when i saw a random guy running away from me and i just took a potshot with shottie and bam he dies at 50m. the other 3 was when i was with my squad and i just happened to hit one of the 100 ppl crowded in the alleyways ( i mean if i cant hit a wall of ppl i might as well uninstall bf2 right there). So can anyone tell me how to use a shotgun effectively cause im pretty clueless. I thought it was just point the reticle at the chest and shoot. Obviously there is something more.

yes but really, when are tanks actually avaible when theres like 9 other ppl waiting for one or a apce to spawn? i dont see any other way to get kills =.=
aim for the head if you can, and well, try not to be more than 15 feet away, and thats all thats really to it....wanna get alot of kills with it? spawn camp behind people and put it to the back of their head
Theres also helos and jets....and commanding
Um.. Learn to aim I guess, and Bunny Hop like a noob with the shootie, works wonders

Spray and move, spray and move. Always fire while on your feet the blast radius is cut in half when you go prone. Aim for the top half of the body or right in the gut.
If all you are worried about is getting basic engineer just use the pistol. It is badass, and gives you a little more distance. If you really want to use the shot gun, wait for people to go prone then run behind them and own. Good luck

works wonders, i was 75-180 with pump-shotties (hate those things...) but now i have my shotgun KD above one.
One tip is to not just charge into the fray, your not assault, and you need to get close to your target. Take back alleys, and ways that other people don't use/expect you to come from. Like if your US, don't spawn at the hill, spawn at the one across the road, and come from the other side, takes a bit longer, but once you get used to it, you get more points than if you just charge from the hill (die less too)

9 other ppl? Come on! I never have to wait that long for armor....just play something other than karkand. Try Sharqui. There's lots of armor available there. And the shotguns rule anyways!! Just do not fire them unless you are close range. If your trying to lie prone on the hill overlooking the hotel on karkand and pick people off like you might do with the m24 then that might be your problem!ChyneseGUY wrote:

To a fellow Pimp Cane User, M11-87 USMC Shot Gun, IMO is the better out of the 3 i make sure im always moving wether it be jumping, ducking, moving, proning doent matter all ways be moving. Next make sure you take well dence areas. you have the abbility to kill in one hit rush the enemy head on use a grenade to distract them i.e. bounce it off a wall to the side and rush in in the front. and as lt. said Jump like a noob, its your only way of defending your self. but always aim for the head its the best way to get the kill.

Four shotty kills in four hours!!?? Oh dear. A few things you might like to try:
* Keeping in mind the weapon's short range, try to sneak up on hostiles, and wait until you are quite close before firing
* ALWAYS aim for the head
All the basic Engineer guns are cool, but you need to use them a little differently:
M11-87 (USMC) or NOR982 (PLA): Aim for the head, and move back and forth sideways between shots (that's if the first one doesn't kill 'em), or even try jumping or going prone.
S12K (MEC): Aim for the head, and click the mouse button as fast as you can until your target is down. Move back and forth sideways while shooting.
But my best piece of advice is DO SOME PRACTICE ON SINGLE PLAYER so you can get the hang of it without getting pwned; it will make a BIG difference. If you can only get one shotgun kill per hour online, you really should still be whacking bots.

You don't even have to aim for the head. And use the pump shotty if your on USMC. If you aren't good at aiming or can't handle the recoil don't use the jackhammer.
I would try a different board/map. The shotty is tough to kill w/, all the above posts are true aim for torso and head, be close... if not pistol, and most importantly... get in a frikin' tank!!!! Stand on the spawn spot and hold E. You might get it first! I don't use the shotguns until I am on top of 'em and as a last resort. Hell I drive around w/ my wrench out all the time... so usually when I hop out of the burning wreckage I get pwned running away from it. TANK or APC will do it for you. Shop around, kick the tires or treads, I think you'll like it and have that badge in no time.

ive gotten a 32-6 KD on wake with jackhammer and pimp cane...dont do strike.expecially with pump...by the time u get ur 2nd pump ion...ur owned.....and they know where u are because u either right in ffrom or doing it from behind...go on wake or some other open map like dalian so theyt have a harder time finding u and u can pop ione in their ass before they even see u
