Leave the rankin system out of 2142?

In my opinion the rankin system brings out the worst in players, just point whorin an not usin teamplay..

I think in the long run 2142 would be a much better game if the ranking system was'nt included?

Any thoughts?

I agree. Earn UNLOCKS via Badges, Medals, and Ribbons. It still gives you something to work for, but you dont need to pointwhore...

Theres nothing wrong with the system now,who cares if unlocks "imbalance" the game.

And i'd rather have Bf 2142 like BF2 not with points than have a get old quick teamwork game.

still a lot of ppl playing unranked though, its fun sumtimes. i really dont know why ppl care about ranks so much... but i do love my unlocks

We all know the ranking system and unlocks is a way to keep most people addicted to the game. Very smart by EA/DICE because it has worked......better then they imagined I am sure. But since all it causes is whores, cheaters, hackers, bunnies, ...etc, it should be done away with.

My thought is no, cuz yesterday me and my clan had a clan(infantry)war and afterwards the only thing we did was fuck around with C4. therefore the none ranking system will not encourage you to do anything then TK and screw around, since the game hasn't got a storyline and such.

If you got unlocks via badges... (Say... Assault tier 1 via basic badge, tier 2 via vet, tier 3 vie expert, tier 4 via medal... etc etc) I think it would give people a reason to truly specialize in the class they like. In BF2 you can do nothing but play sniper for 500 points, and then unlock two Support guns.

No, point whoreing dies down (will never go away) when you make playing as a team more point profitable. So far from what I've seen/heard of 2142 it sounds like they are heading in that direction, but we'll only know once the game has been out for some time and we've see all creative crap people normally come up with.

I wouldnt play this game this long if it wasnt for the ranking system, because i spent so long learning the gameplay while unlocking my weapons I'm really too good at it to just drop it, like i did with a lot of other games.
