i don't think they should scrap the ranking system. I'd still play it if they didn't have it, but the ranking system makes you better at things that you normally wouldn't give two shits about. Like, i wouldn't play commander, but they have an expert badge, a medal, and a ribbon attacked with it, so i'll probably play commander a fair amount to get those, and thus, get good at commanding. Normally i would NEVER command, but that's my point, same with the pistol and what used to be the knife badge. Would you EVER normally decide to get 18 pistol kills in a round? didn't think so, unless you felt like fucking around, but then you wouldn't care how many kills you got.

This was brought up before, in some people like the ranking system as it brings the game to another level in competition and something to progress towards.
THE GOOD: I like the ranking system because its only for ME, not anyone else to compare because I really don't care. The ranking system is good in the aspect of something to strive for, something to gain. Getting points and Ranks is a game within a game. This area people play for fun but also make it a point to look at thier stats to see how far they have advanced, and reality they don't mind whether they get them or not, they mainly play for the fun in the game, with an extra perk.
THE BAD: almost the same instances of good -- it brings out the competition with EVERYONE, in saying who's good, who is not, "Im better than you" crap. People will do anything to make the rank, whether it being padding or whatnot to get there and once there everyone else is a "n00b" to them. People Play for points and points only and complain to others in-chat "ownerzd". Many of these people in this category think they are the best pixalated dude on BF2 and if killed are the first to scream "Haxxorz!". Many people in this category use the small servers in where you can score many points just to be the one "I got 450 points today". They think the rankings mean something.....
The good players play for fun but also like to see the competition level in everyone by not playing the bad way. Just all out fun and strive for a certain goal without criticizing someone. Every good player acknowledges the other in good gameplay; a good player doesn't use the enhancements, like K/P; High Pts Servers.
Am I against or for rankings you ask? I am for, but I like the class of the "Good Guys"
