I was originally replying to some thread about stupid server rules, but it got out of hand and I got off track. The first part of the post mutated into what follows, read if you have the time and don't mind my meandering.

On admins whoring vehicles; I paid 30$ for the game, they pay like triple that every month or something. Servers aren't cheap, and the fact that people keep them up and give me a place to play is cool. If admins are dicks to me, I have no problem populating a different server. Usually I get treated fairly by the admins on even some of the most notorious servers I play on. I have a policy of not chatting, or calling people names, I think that helps.

The thing that makes me annoyed is seeing someone get kicked off a server for flying, then logging back in and whining like a four year old who got told he couldn't eat cookies. Sometimes it's humorous, but often times it's just sad and ends in racial slurs and anatomy comparisons. (Well, you just don't know the four year olds I know, I guess.)

It's not even really that big a deal unless you are trying to fly, in which case the BF series has always been a place of tks and intentional runway blocking. I figure you have already figured that out a long time ago.

On spawn-camping/whoring/raping; I guess I am a bit of a purist when it comes to strategy in dealing with these games. Having fun is the goal, and winning is usually fun. Hence I tend to spawn-camp, bunny-hop, use a noob-tube, and claymore-whore when I can. The game changes around these styles of play, and people either learn to overcome the challenges, or stop playing. For example does anyone remember that jeeps in bf 1942 used to be called "land torpedoes?" Racing down wake island i often would "take one for the team" by crashing into a tank and keeping it from spawn-camping my allies. When they took the explosive power of the jeep down a peg, I stopped doing that, and got sneakier with explosives.

Learn and adapt as situations change, rather than complain about them. If someone is winning because they are doing something you aren't, it's not them who is at fault, it is you for not adapting to the situation. Giving rules to things like "no spawn-whoring or base-camping, claymores" takes this game from chess to checkers by demonizing a couple popular hyphenated Battlefield2 words.

There are some things that break games; prepatch black hawks, and the hotel glitch are good examples of a game breaking mechanics that have nothing to do with the skill of the persons playing the game. These should be fixed when they can be.

On Strategy; I feel like there are too many people playing the game who don't have any common sense.
Lets say you spawn at the karkand hotel then promptly die 10 times because someone is in an APC camping the alley where two of the spawn points are located. Meanwhile there are support teams on the roof of the other side camping the last remaining spawn point. Why not simply spawn at the square and easily take on either spawn camping team. Toss a couple grenades up at the support dudes, then lay down a claymore at the bottom of the ladder and one at the top. Pick up the support kit, drop yourself some ammo, Then pick up your sniper rifle again and move down that alley towards the square. Wait for some one to try to get back up to camp again and get kacked by your claymore, if not once, perhaps twice. Move back down the alley, rinse, wash repeat till they learn that they need to change tactics. You have not only supported your team but also gotten a lot of kills in the process. If you die, at least you know you will have one safe spawn point to spawn at if you choose to spawn at the hotel again to be closer. and maybe your support has allowed someone else on your team a chance to get a C4 charge or two on that bastard who killed you so many times.

It's like the difference between writing a generalized comparative statement about something to make yourself sound wiser than you actually are, and actually knowing what you are talking about.

For example; BF2 strategy is like air, appears to be invisible, but is always in use.

Feel free to come up with your own comparative statements

The problem with BF2 is that theres no incentive to win or work as a team - the only incentive is points.
Working with other people lets them "steal" your kills - you get less points.
Thus working as a team to help win is pointless to most people. Hopefully 2142, with its squad bonuses and Titian mode, should encourage teamwork a bit. But with masses of unlocks that make your life a lot easier (e.g camoflague), people will still be after points.

I play the same way. I never talk at all in global nor team chat. I do well yet stay humble about it and I know people respect that for not being a dick when I own.
