Hi there!
Since I played BF² for some hours there has been some action going on I would like to watch over and over again just to laugh my ass off and if I ever get some - show it to my kids.

How does the battlerecorder work? Does it record every game I play? Would be good, because the crazy stuff always happens unplanned...

I need to know how to record, watch and compile my videos.

O.K. looks interesting.
But isn't this realtime video capturing taking some performance?
I don't know if I'm right but I think the Battlerecorder only records movements and actions of all players, so it can recreate the original game. This has the advantage that u can view players from every angle.
Am I right about this? You maybe have to tell me more than just an URL, I am totally n00b to this thing...

I thought Battle Recorder did what u just said, H&A.  Recording what u see on the screen's not quite as useful to me.

I think you have to download BattleRecorders files from the game server somehow...  Not sure, I'm no expert, but that makes sense since that's where all the action really takes place.

Yeah I see that, but nothing I see there has any purpose.
I can't download any recorded Demos because every server refuses the connection and I also can't start those 2 that are already there, because when it restarts Battlefield to play them it gets stuck with this stupid welcome message.

Did anyone ever record a Demo with the Battlerecorder?!

Most servers have the Battlecorder turned off.  The way it works is at the end of the round the Battlecorder file is made available in BFHQ in the community section.  You then have to download the file from the server to your computer.  This eats up server bandwidth which most people would prefer not to do.  I've set one up for a LAN party before in the past and it was a bit of a pain in the ass to set up to tell you the truth.  To set one up on the internet would be even more of a pain because you'd have to set up an FTP server to serve the Battlecorder files.  We didn't do that I just shared out the files.

So there is no way for me to record my fightings on ranked servers?

U have to be on a server that has battlecorder enabled. to do that just check the box on your server filter that says "battlecorder". Then click refresh. It will show you all the server that have battlecorder enabled. After a battle, go to "community" to watch them. You have to wait a while for it to download tough.
But I had a small problem when I was using battlecorder. for me, it ran well for a few minutes then everything just stopped moving. vehicles where floating everywhere and ppl were walking into walls. Didn't happen in the game. Guess it's another bug.

I've found that even if you filter servers that SHOULD have the battlecorder enabled that doesn't mean jack.  It really depends on the admin's willingness to enable it and have it set up correctly.

Having battlecorder enabled is cool however the high price of bandwidth makes most server admins just forget it.

You can build a kickass server to host BF2 for easily under $1000.  What costs all the money is the bandwidth.  I had researched it in the past and a 64 player server with the works including bandwidth would have been like 6MB upstream and down.  That right there is easily $600/month if not more.

I make a chunk of change for my job and just the 32 player server I had going for a few months was pretty pricey.

EA's rental fee?  Forget that shit.  Their server rentals are for Donald Trump.
