what i mean is when i am playing and i take a pot shot at a car i get the little yellow flash, you know the little flash that tells you that you have hit another player.

however, this little flash occurs even when i shoot at a vehicle and am i nowhere near hitting the driver. it also happens against choppers: i shoot the tail and still get the little flash like you do when you hit a player. happens with apc's too.

the whole point of this post i suppose is to ask because i am getting the flash, even though i have blatantly NOT hit anybody, does it still positively effect my accuracy?

if it does positively effect accuracy then anybody can start taking shots at everything and registering hits even though you are not hitting players.

any ideas?

yes. every time the yellow marker appears your shot counts as a hit.. therefor increasing your overall accuracy.

From everything I've ever read on the forums and the information I have gotten from other people is that the answer is YES. It does effect your accuracy as long as it is a hit!

it counts as hit - and it makes sense - if you hit a heli you're damaging it, so its a hit

What about when you do an arty strike, if you look at your cross hair it flashing alot?

Yes, hits to unarmoured vehicles with small-arms fire count as hits.

If you see a smoking Vod/Humvee/buggy/chopper it's always worth pegging it, you never know. I've gotten the last shot into a chopper before it exploded with both the M24 and L96A1 recently, and other guys have 'downed' choppers with pistol shots. With the M95 because the damage is so high it's worth a shot or two into choppers (cockpit area in particular of course) as it can get cautious pilots to rotate back to the pad for repair.

Strange as it sounds coming from me he's right. Except for a sniper specifically working toward being accurate (for their own reasons, doesn't give you anything) if you do well in the game don't give your actually accuracy number any thought. Of course decent accuracy and doing well do tend to go together to a certain extent.

There's been about half a dozen times that I've seen choppers smoking or on fire that I just unload with whatever weapon I have handy...it goes down and I get the kills.

Weapons used have been:

G36E, DAO-12, G36C, PKM, and once with a pistol but don't remember which one.

Anyway, as long as there is no immediate ground threat, I'll always empty a clip into a smoking vehicle.

There have been many topics on this and nobody seems to have a clear answer.....

I always shoot it though, unless it's a tank/apc. That's just stupid. But small arms fire can damage a car surprisingly fast. Especially a PKM -> car. Just the other day I got credit for killing a heli with my silenced pistol on wake. Woot.

The Vehicles Must be maned though.... I'm sure you've notcied that hitting a Parked Vehicle results in no hit indication... Even though you can damage it.

Fun...I remember one near a alley in karkand....a whole squad were cowering behing the can when a random M95 bullet whizzed into it. 5 kills in a row.

I know if I'm an engineer Ill take shots at the with the 12 GA or as a sniper with the m95. You never know when you'll get lucky and crack a pilot or gunner in the head. And if its smoking you might just have the magic bullet to bring it down.

I blow them up if I'm trying to cap a flag, so some smarty pants like you won't come along and blow me up!
I love to get them on top of construction site, got 3 kills there from shooting the red barrel.

Yes, yes it does. You should shoot destructible bridges all round long to improve your accuracy. It's a really good idea.
