If your talking about 1 GB ram, It will work ferfectly fine with Medium settings I think..
IT depends on more than just your ram. What are your specs?
If the rest of your rig is good, then 1GB is fine. It works for me with settings on High. Might be a bit slow to load up (especially the "Client Verification" shit...), but in-game as long as you have a decent video card you should have no problems.

I used to run the game if 1GB of ram (xp3200 proc/x800), I thought it ran fine, settings med-high

which is above decent
1gb of ram shouldnt be a burden with a x800, 850 or a 7600/7800 agp card at all

i have 2 gigs, with everything high in video settings it runs at a smooth 50 FPS (not sarcasm, honest)
