Winning? That's one of the three things i care about if i play BF2.
and the other two?

Usque Ad Finem
i win cause' thats a way i have fun.
Probably just the commander, you spam orders to ur team, so frustrating when a large squad (atleast 4 guys init) are sitting at a flag camping points and wont go cap it, then u loose the round by like 10 tickets........ This is why as commander I always go cap the flags if my team is completley oblivious to the fact the ememy now controls 75% of the battlefield. This is the problem really, theres no real insentive to 'win' the rounds except for the commanders who may loose a doubled score, which is why I never understood why EA/DICE never implimented a reason for you to go win the map. The old requirements for the war college ribon meant 'SOME' tried, but heck getting a 3:1 win/loss ratio was extremly difficult. Hence why it was changed, only ever 2 guys care about the win, the commanders and thats it.
i havent read anything but the first post.
if i play a game, i play it to win, have fun while doing it (at all costs).
the goal of a game is not only to become first, but get your team to win by your actions, that if you where on the other team, that team would win.
what is the point of playing a game thinking "i dont care if i win or not", i want to WIN every ground battle, heli battle, plane battle (cant fly for another month maybe ), every battle, it gives a feeling you did something good.
if i play with " i want many points dont care about winning " i feel noobish. and i must take a bath to get rid of that feeling

I play to win. End of story. Always have done in any game I play, and will continue to do so.
I always go out and cap flags, defend flags, repair assets - and kick some major ass at the same time.
All dependant on the situation. But I play to win. I will cap flags - I will not sit in an APC and spawnrape for 5mins at a flag, when I could easily sit on the flag, cap it and get the kills at the same time. More points = quicker promotions.
Id much prefer to win and only get a bronze medal, than to earn a gold and lose due to a useless team who wont move to cap a single flag which would turn the tide.
This is what I can never understand...for all those spawnrapers, why not cap flags and get kills at the same time? To win = Holding more flags than the enemy. Flags = spawn point = lots of kills = lots of points = medals.
Its pretty simple. Snipers shouldnt be flag capping, since they are there to pick off enemies at long range and are not equipped to do so, with the exception of, if nobody is spawning at a flag right in front of them.
Happened in a squad on Mashtuur the other day - our SL was sat on the roof of the building by the Backyard. The SL and 4 members all sat on top shooting all the guys spawning (were all medics/support for ammo and revives) - whilst we were losing by 1 flag. 5minutes they sat there without moving an inch.
So, I spawned, shot a few people, then ran down to the flag and capped it by myself. I then got a message over VOIP "idiot, now im gona get less kills". In the end, we won by 10 points - after the score being 70-150 in their favour. That pretty much summed up this game for me - a team of 32 players will consist of pretty much 28 dedicated spawn rapers and 4 flag cappers, if that.

Commanders are the only ones who really care about wining due to the point incentive. If all squad leaders got a boost in points for their squads... you would see people care a lot more.

Winning is everything in any competitive thing you do. I play to win, not to cater to the point whores who want fake badges and medals.
i´m a wake-whore and don´t teamswitch so guess i don´t care about winning
aint bothered i win i win i lose i lose nuf said.
I don't care about winning or losing but when I'm losing it usually means that my team is baseraped, plane/tank/helo/arty whored or just too weak. That makes me prefer winning Just like ChyneseGUY the only thing I try to do is to get more kills than deaths.
I only care about my # of kills, and k:d ration. Fuck everything else.
Note that I'm not saying whether or not you play to win, ( I always do) but whether you actually see the W/L screen at the end and either jump up and down in celebration or chuck your keyboard across the room.
sometimes I care and others I don't.
When I care about winning, it usually forces me to stay as one class because our team will be getting manhandled by a school of tanks and I'll have 30 snipers running around trying to shoot at them through the cannon.
I find that when I play to win, I usually end up playing anti tank, and I refuse to be one of those players with 500 hrs in one kit and 5 mins in another. I keep my own stats well rounded, but I ultimately play for myself and the fun of the game.

I don't throw things, but I will definitely let out a couple F bombs.Flaming_Maniac wrote:

oh man I laughed so much when the woman with the creepy voice says it in the HL2:portal trailer.

There should be an incentive to win, like a 1.5x score multiplier, or 20 bonus team points or something.
Yeah!! This game is about cooperation on a TEAM!!! to try and win, not just cunts, however good, only thinking about their own stats. Thats just too lame.usmarine2005 wrote:

And players would teamswitch even moregreedyj wrote:

That would virtually guarantee teamswitching as a preoccupation for far too many players (the kind that play for points at the expense of practically anything else), the setting up of servers without auto team balance as a commonplace, and other abuses.greedyj wrote:

The squad that does best on the winning team, maybe its members should get a 1.5x score multiplier... although there are ways of abusing that too. If you had a squad which included one of the two J-10 pilots on Wake, or one or both of the guys in the MEC helo on Sharqi etc. you could almost guarantee being the top squad, although the purpose of the squad leader and the effective cohesion of the squad as a fighting unit would be practically nil.
I do as my win/loss ratio can attest to.
