I had 43 knife kills tonight when I went into a Karkand server and grabbed 7 IAR.  However, the stats updated showing I only had Basic Knife. 

I then assumed that BF2 didn't award Basic and Veteran simulatenously.  Consequently, I went back in and got 7+ knife kills IAR to no avail. 

So I'm wondering what the problem might be?  It can't be that the stats didn't update as it was the same server and my global kills accurately reflect the rounds in question. 

Has anyone else had this problem?  I really don't want to have to go back in again and again hoping that "this will be the round where it finally gives me Veteran" if it's a bug in the system.  Any assistance is appreciated.

I've got that not with kills sometimes but with the time you need to have : when i was going for my veteran enegineers badge i looked in BFHQ and i had 15 hours (wenn i started to play  14 hours something) but didn't get anything.
then i stopped playing and went back later that night and got the veteran badge.

i think you just need to play now again and get 7 knife kills, you would get it.

somewhere i read that global requirements must be met before you log in to get the IAR.... not sure if this is accurate...

It´s absolutely correct. For every award you want to get you have to fit the other requirements before the round you get the IAR requirements
