(http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications … =TC3J-2082)

I currently have a 7200rpm SATA 250gig hard drive and a second 76 gig raptor i will use from my current machine, as well as an x800xt that i will use for now, and i think to help space things out, i will use my current p4 3.4 541 processor for a month or two until conroes become a little cheaper/more available.

this will be my first build, so if you see any conflicts in equipment, please point em out, and offer suggestions. I picked the case/power supply for cost though. I like a lot of the simpler cases, but to get a case i want and a power supply i want, it will be around 200 to get them individually, as opposed to 120 for what i have shown.

I can't say enough about that board - it's the only board I've come accross that has 32 lanes of PCIE traffic, which enables true dual PCIe 16x performance.  I've used it and love it.  Similarly, that RAM is top shelf in my experience (I have that RAM as well).  That case is a bit cheap, though.  It is a decent case/PSU for the money, but it is not a sturdy case by any means.  It gets the job done, though and it relatively well thought out.  Just be careful with the feet.  They tend to pop out and strip the threads off of their bolts.  I'd read the forums on ASUS's website to see how that CPU works with that board in practice.  I realize it states it will work in THEORY, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.  Nice rig.

The providers are not set in stone, those are just links to the products, and i will be looking for cheaper websites.

I am all open to suggestions on cases/power supplies. I realize that the selection i have at the moment is decent, but not higher end, but i am trying to save some money on certain aspects of the machine. I really liked some of the ling-li cases, but those things are freaking expensive. If anyone can suggest a case, i would be appreciative. The main features i want are side vent and no front door to open to have to access disk drives and usb ports. Clear sided would be nice, but is something i can work around not having.

I would like to try and do some mild overclocking on the new conroe though. I've done some with video cards, but not messed with CPU's any.

Also, i have heard opinions going both good and bad with ultra power supplies. I believe the power supplyu provided is SLI compatable, but it doesnt say so on the description.

Case shouldn't matter if you're not traveling with it.  You could mount it all in the cardboard box it ships in if you wanted.

You mean you've never heard of;

DFI LanParty CFX3200-DR
Asus M2N32
Asus Crosshair
DFI LanParty Expert

Dual PCI Express (either SLi or Crossfire) both using 16x each, enabling true 32 lanes. Most of those boards also have PCI-Express x1 which is also enabled.
