i realised that whenever i play this map, when i fight inside the ship, i will always be average lagness but when i play other maps, lagginess seems okay.

- The Iron Gator map laggy?
less lag then on other maps for me.
Iron Gator lags more then other maps here.
YESSS. I thought it was just me, but yeah that map just doesn't stop lagging for me. I just quit when that map comes on now.
Every time I get in the Longbow on that map, l a g g g g g g y . . .
The only lag problem I´ve seen on Iron Gator so far was when 6 supports flooded the hangar bay with teargas.
I haven't had lag on it yet but i haven't played it in a 64 player server yet. It did lag once similiarly to a bove when a lot of cs had been used.
Every friggen map in SF stutters for me. I had to drop my settings just to be able to f**ing play at all...
I have a:
Pentium D 3.0Ghz Dual Core
320GB RAID 0 array (fast hard drive)
GeForce 6800 256MB
1GB RAM (2 additional GB are in the mail, whoohoo)
There is absolutely no reason for the ridiculous levels of lag/stutter that I am getting.

1) The increase of internal building player environment. More playable areas equal more rendering and that equals LAG.
2) Introduction or increased usage of environmental influencing objects. i.e. Tear Gas and Flash Bangs. The more of these that are being done and need to be rendered in your playing environment the more LAG.
3) The number of environmental lighting changes also effect graphic rendering and hence LAG.
All three of these things contribute to more LAG and SF brings more of all three things to the game. Hence why there is more LAG.

i cant play warlord at all, fully unplayable due to lag.
LOL, sorry to here about your LAG but some of us dont get any , but thats because we run athlon64 s with 2 GB of RAM LOL, BTW your twin core Pentium D is very nice and a lot of money but it doesnt do the business for SF , What you are having its System slowdown , Bet its a top system if you do loads of video encoding , The 2GB of RAM should make a big diff (Good Luck) , TBH i have noticed that my system is working a lot harder on SF than BF2 , Hope the Ram makes it run a bit better !!! Are you running DUAL CHANNEL ???SokViChet wrote:

I agree with The.heart.attack.
As soon as Warlord comes on, it gets frickin laggy and im done with my kills.
Allthough Iron gater is a bit laggy, i can aim nearly properly on this map, but warlord, no way.

Heh, yeah I do A LOT of video encoding, and my wife runs Photoshop CS, Visual Studio, a huge mortgage lending app she is building (over VPN, no less), and a bunch of other stuff all at the same time every day... So the Dual Core is great for those things, but not so much for my gaming addiction.LOL, sorry to here about your LAG but some of us dont get any , but thats because we run athlon64 s with 2 GB of RAM LOL, BTW your twin core Pentium D is very nice and a lot of money but it doesnt do the business for SF , What you are having its System slowdown , Bet its a top system if you do loads of video encoding , The 2GB of RAM should make a big diff (Good Luck) , TBH i have noticed that my system is working a lot harder on SF than BF2 , Hope the Ram makes it run a bit better !!! The Ram is DDR2 533, so it should be dual channel, but I havent checked to see if it actually is... I will be up to 3 ghz in a few days, so I hope that should fix it... Another good thing was that the dual core wasnt that much more expensive than the P4, at the time... I am wishing that I had an AMD now, but what can I do ya know?

You think he is insane....I play on an AMD 2 Ghz forget which one...400 Mhz bus, 640 Meg PC2700 ram, Audigy Z2 sound and a 128 Meg FX5200 vid card!!!!!!! <===IT'S NOT EVEN SUPPORTED! It wasn't even worth a damn!! hahahahahaBlackLegion42 wrote:

I cannot play Iron Gator at all!! When I do I stay on land! The rest are ok to a bit laggy but playable. I have to be picky on which servers I play. No servers over 32 slot, real good pings, stick to few favorites basically. I tend to play alot more strategically though because of lag. No wild running around or C4 Hummer runs. Stealth around slow in quiet areas. Makes for cool game play. BF2 plays fine for me though.

I found out why players with the low low end systems or settings are getting no lag while players with the better systems are getting lag. I lowered all my settings to low and voila the gameplay was smoother than pimp talk anywhere in the ship no matter what was going on. Ofcourse im used to playing bf2 on all ultra-high 6xaa so I think the low settings look ridiculous... If people posted their specs here like requested on thetotalbf2.com forum you would see that low settings run the SF much much better than the high end systems. Its also quite sad that this game was so rushed to meet an expected date when we can see it still has many bugs to be fixed. Its lots of fun but when the map gets to lagging its time to leave the game and do something else.
There is a difference between lag and low FPS. Low fps is what most experience inside that ship and when there is lots of smoke or teargas.
Lag is an actual connection problem.

I laugh at you all...
My specs...
Emachines M6805 laptop (yes i said laptop)
AMD Athlon 64 bit 3000
1.280 G RAM
64 MB Radeon 9600/9700 Mobility
and a hardrive that has 60 G but i dont know the rpm of the top of my head
GUESS WHAT??? I have no lag on any of the SF maps....weird huh?

I updated my Nvidia drivers to the latest tonight. Game play was much smoother.

I've just played iron gator 20 person. No lag, 20 ping... smooth as silk. And got my SpecOps badge..ok, only 6 kills needed, but I'm still proud
Kilroy is right, lots of new features for these new maps, and lots of draws on your systems. So tweak your settings a little, see what's best.... I did and now it works great
AMD64@2.02Ghz 2x1Mb ram @400 ddr. nvidia 6600GT OC 128.... Chocolate, lots of chocolate, drinks, doesn't matter what kind..patience for all the kids that love to run around and shoot anything that moves (bless em).. and remembering that it's just a game

I don't know if its called lag or FPS, but in that map I have a hard time because when I look around its all delayed and choppy a lot depending on what's happening on the map. I get it on some of the other SF maps as well, but more on Iron Gator and more overall than I ever did in BF2. I wonder if the extra features of the maps makes them heavier to process? I don't have a bad system, I'm running a P4 3.0Ghz machine with 1G od RAM and an ATI radion 9800XT 3D card.
